Not so much time for the store to close. Dang it, I really have to run over there do I? The Stores in Japan aren't too far from home, honestly it's bad on the other side of the world. The stores over there take for ever to get to, around 20 to thirty minutes walking. Depending on which area you live in but typically it takes for ever.
After getting to the store which was a small one indeed; walking through the door and an old man greeted me. He wasn't typically "old" but he's getting there, that old man was really nice to me. Maybe don't consider him as old? Yes, he will be the guardian of the shop.
I smiled back at him and bowed in return, then searched down the shelves. Mostly stuffed in a very organized way with a lot of flashy Japanese snacks with labels that are barely understandable for me to read. But at least the small treats look tasty.
I chuckled at the sudden sight of how perfect it all looks in all multiple shelves.
Then kept searching and found the end of the store and laid my eyes upon the huge cold glass fridge with varieties of flavorful drinks on the wall then noticed something on the side of my eye.
"Awww, it's a mini fridge with ice in it and mini ice cream containers inside too"
I put my hands over my mouth from my small squeal.I took a deep breath to calm down then looked back over to the wall filled with drinks and opened the glass door and let out a breath of relief from the cool gentle air that escaped to the regular temperate on this side.
"Mmm..." I closed my eyes to feel the cold air and re-opened them again and grabbed a milk container.
"Hmm... Strawberry Milk. It must taste better here since- no." I chuckled and covered my mouth from my smile.
"WOW, I have such high expectations for Japan. From how they eat and how their stores and houses supposed to look like. Maybe- let's just move one." I kept talking to myself in a whisper as I kept looking through the store. Then finally made it to the female hygienic section.
"Hmm" I looked down the area then finally found my size and type. Then grabbed it and brought it to the front counter.
How embarrassing, how would the Guardian think of it? Will he be disgusted? It's just so strange having a guy as a cashier, but I wouldn't be comfortable even if it was a woman either.
Someone my age would make me feel less ashamed than what I feel right now. No. I'll just never visit here again.
Gee, that's a little dramatic. No it's fine.
I placed it in front of the counter and drifted my eyes away and pulled out my father's card from my back pocket and looked back up at him.Honestly hoping he won't deny because I'm not using a debit card. It would be unusual to see a teen with a credit card.
I just pray he doesn't deny.
After he scanned the Strawberry milk and then the product he stared back up at me.
Dammit eye contact. Then he is staring down at me? Wait his eyes are- no stop thinking about body language. Just put the card in and smile.
Then it was all paid and I took the plastic bag and took out the milk cartoon and put the other bag inside my backpack. I turned around to leave until all of a sudden.
The Guardian called out to me, even though I didn't understand what he was saying which left me confused. I ended up walking towards him.
"Hm?" I tilted my head sideways.
The old man passed me a bag.
Then he rubbed his hand together and put it over his stomach.
"Oooh, heat pads" I hesitated to reach it from his hands but just bowed and shook my hands.
"No it's okay I don't need it don't worry" I bowed and frowned slightly from shame.
He then flinched his hand gently a little up. Staring in front of me the small bags of heat pads and sighed. I've been defeated and now will be healed from the out burst of wounds that will fall upon my future.
I smiled softly and bowed again and took the small bags in front of me then bowed again.
Why should I be ashamed? Embarrassed? The Old kind man is just helping me out. He probably noticed my bottled up emotions a little too quick.
"Thank you- Arigatō" I whispered slightly with my broken Japanese. And slid them down my pockets from the side of my thighs. Then bowed again this time feeling a lot more grateful than before.
He smiled softly back and nodded.
As I went out of the store I smiled and sighed in relief.
Walking down the streets again. This time feeling the air become warmer than before. I checked my phone again.
"10:36 A.M." too early for my own good. Normally I'd wake up until 6 P.M. or so.
I sighed and kept walking. I leaned onto the wall and lifted up my head to smell the air.
"Mmm, the beach air is close. Not too close but J can certainly track it down to get there..." I chuckled and kept walking towards the fresh scent in the air.
After some time I made it to the cement stairs that go down to the beach. I walked down feeling the small grains of sand creating a crunchy scratchy noise under my shoes.
"Now that's definitely a sign my shoes will be filled of sand..." I kept walking close to the shore and looked at the sun making the sky look bright blue and cheery pink.
I looked back in front and opened the container of Strawberry Milk and took small sips from it. Enjoying every single ounce of the bottle.
Until a familiar voice from the distance came by from afar...
