Violet walked down the street, wishing she had a coat. It was unreasonably cold outside for a spring day. Central City wasn't as bustling as Starling City as far as nightlife goes, but still it was better than the shambles she lived in before.
She kicked up a puddle, imagining that she was kicking Barry's self-righteous face. What an arrogant, hypocritical, irresponsible, selfish prick. To his credit, he didn't even know what he did wrong, or rather what he would do. But she was not one to give people excuses for acting the way they did. If you were an asshole, you owned up to it. You didn't pretend you were better than everyone else.
Where the hell was Bolt anyway? It was his idea, not hers, for them to come back here. It was his idea to meet Barry Allen. She had no interest in doing either. So where was he? He wasn't exactly known for being Mr. Punctual, but she didn't expect him to be this late.
She couldn't contact him with a phone from this time period, because all the phone lines in the future were gone. The ones that survived had been reserved for the rich and restricted for the poor. Earthgov made sure that people like her, Bolt and Barry Allen, never again took control of Central City. Or any place for that matter. Metahumans were worse off than homeless men on the street.
She had never tried something as stupid as a telepathic link with her twin, but these were desperate times. Violet walked into the nearest ally and sat down, closing her eyes.
Bolt? Bolt can you hear me?
...
Bolt. Where the hell are you? It isn't going like you said it would. Barry won't listen to me. He doesn't trust me. I need you to convince him instead.
...
Goddamn it, Bolt! I didn't ask for this shit. You better not be with that stupid girl again.
...
Violet leaned her forehead against her folded arms as she sat in the abandoned alleyway, cursing her brother in as many languages as she could.
Violet.
Violet raised her head, confused.
Bolt?
Violet... Did you really think you could hide from me?
Her face went pale, and for her that was saying something. She tried. She really really did. She did her very best to get away from this guy. But how can you escape something that exists everywhere? Mirrors could be anything. A doorknob. A puddle. A window. How could she hide when everywhere she looked was a portal into his world?
"Hey kid!" A voice interrupted her petrified state. She looked up, towards the street. A man was standing there with a giant blue parka on, gun in hand.
"Let's take a walk around town," the man suggested in a voice that clearly said, you don't have a choice.
Violet nearly laughed. He probably thought he could enlist her as one of his little flying monkeys, but Violet knew better. She knew Captain Cold like the back of her hand. She knew his future; something he wouldn't know for years.
Instead of voicing these thoughts, she stood up and shrugged. "Sure, why not?"
...
Cisco paced around the lab while Barry looked on, trying to ignore the fact that he had just bullied a high school girl.
"If she can teleport using her black holes, then she could be anywhere. We have to find her Barry. If what she says is true, the future is at stake. We need to help her find the Flash- meaning future you not current you- and get her back to her own time period, or her reality will become our reality, and that would really suck. I don't really like the sound of a Terminator style government-controlled country where the humans are the ones trying to kill metahumans. I don't think that would end well for you either," Cisco reasoned. "So let's put aside our differences and see if we can get to the bottom of your mysterious disappearing act."
Barry was so guilty over what he had said to Violet that he would agree to just about anything right now. "Let's do it. I think I know where to start looking."
...
C.C. Jitters was unoccupied by either Iris or Violet, unfortunately. Cisco turned to look at Barry. "Next."
They checked Joe's house, Barry's old apartment, and just about every hotel in Central City. She was no where to be found.
Barry looked particularly distressed. Something was wrong with the way Violet had acted. It wasn't just that she wanted to fight with him, it was that she expected it. Whatever relation she had to Barry was not a good one. She was already used to picking fights with him.
"Cisco, do you buy that whole story Violet was telling us?" Barry asked, looking at Cisco.
Cisco nodded. "Yeah, I mean she did seem pretty desperate. I think the future really is on the line."
Barry shook his head. "No man, I mean about her not having any relation to the Flash. She seems to hate me. And not just because I told her off today. It was immediate. As soon as she got here, she marked me as her enemy," he insisted. "But Iris is like the complete opposite. She knows both of us, and I think she knows you too Cisco. She knows all of us. We just need to figure out how and why. Who is she really?"
...
As they walked down the street, cars whizzed past, sending unpleasant breezes toward a shivering Violet. Of course Leonard Snart didn't mind the cold.
"So what's a nice kid like you doing out here on the streets? Mom and Dad kicked you out?" Snart asked. Violet gave him a glare that could singe eyebrows.
"Let's just get to the point. You need me to spy on the Flash for you, and I need you to do something for me as well," Violet began, shocking Captain Cold into temporary silence.
"I have someone I need to find. You know this city better than anyone, so I know you can do it. Use computers, men, guns, any means necessary. I want him back alive. Do we have an understanding?" She sped up her pace and whirled around to block Cold's path. She put a threatening hand on his chest, her palm glowing purple.
"I said, do we understand each other?" She repeated with a Cheshire cat grin. Cold held her gaze for a while, seeing that she was dead serious. He raised his eyebrows and smirked back.
"I think we'll get along just fine kid. But unless you want to end up as the World's Prettiest Icicle, I suggest you remove your hand."
...
The plot thickens! Violet and Snart are teaming up you guys! I told you she was always up to something! Anyway, more is to come, believe me. And please don't hate Barry for saying mean things to her. He's going through a really tough time as a hero. Next chapter Caitlin returns from the honeymoon! And perhaps more of Iris? Stay tuned!
And also, we have another gigantic clue as to who this guy is that's following her. Mirrors... hmm... I think fans of the comics will know. ;) Comment please!
