{CHAPTER ONE ,
— ❝ second hand news ❞ }MALIAH FELT LIKE SHE had been shaking her head all day. All she said to May was no. Again, and again and again. She felt like a teen mum. "No." She pushed the trolly forwards. "I bought bananas yesterday; I'm not spending five more dollars on more fucking bananas."
May gasped, "The house was set on fire! I didn't even eat those bananas!"
"And who's fault is that?"

So, the house was on fire. And it wasn't May's fault.
"I just wanted to know if fire would come out of my foot!" May had been trying to defend herself for about half an hour. It was not going well. "Spoiler alert, it worked."
"May we have literally no way to cover this up." Maliah had a hand on her sweaty forehead, a heavy sigh leaving her lips.
May protested immediately, "Sure we do!" She looked at the building, "We left the stove on."
"I don't even think we have a stove!"
"What do you mean we don't have a stove!" May bit her lip, "Oh, my poor, poor hairspray DVD." Maliah hit her harshly on the back of the head.
"That's your priority? Really?!" She threw her hands up, "You set the goddamn house on fire, and you're worried about hairspray?!"
May gasped in offence, "It was limited edition!" She turned and pouted. "It had behind the scenes and everything." Her phone began ringing and she dug it out of her back pocket. "Hello?"
"Is your house on fire?"
"No. How come?"
"I'm looking at it through my apartment window." River pursed, "May."
She hummed.
"Did you set the house on fire?"
There was a long pause. May looked at Maliah. Maliah looked at May. "Can we stay at yours for a while?"

"You're like a little minion." Maliah grabbed cookie dough, putting it in the trolly. "Banana. Banana. Banana." She mocked in a minion voice.
"Hey," May suddenly said, eating grapes out of the packet Maliah had put in the trolly. "We should get a motorbike." She suggested. "Now, walk with me here," She paused. "One, we'd look totally barbie-tastic. Two, we don't know how to drive so it would be convenient and three I would love to see River on it." She smirked.
Maliah rolled her eyes, "Okay, here are my thoughts and prayers, ready?" She asked, grabbing coco pops. "One, we don't even know how to ride a motorbike, two, Kai and River can drive anyway and three." She paused, "Fucking gross." She grimaced.
"Ugh, you're no fun."
"Coming from the one who set the house on fire." Maliah mumbled. "You know once I saw a guy I hooked up with on love island." She told May.
May nodded, "Yeah, the Jake guy, right? It's always the J names." She shook her head. "If you could be in a movie, what movie would you be in?"
Maliah hummed, "Harry potter." May nodded her head in agreement. "You?"
May paused in thought. "Lego Ninjago." She told her, "You know what would be really fun? Lego harry potter."
"Oh, Kai has that. I saw it last time I was at his."
