Sting had spent the night as he usually does. The whole night was spent cuddling, kissing, and Sting constantly apologizing for the way he acted, even if he didn't remember it. You found it a bit weird though, considering he had no recollection of the events. But you would ignore it... for now.
At the guild the next morning, Sting went right into his office to do some paperwork. It made you wonder a bit. Back at Fairy Tail when you were younger, Master Makarov never appeared to do any paperwork at all. He was always watching over the guild, laughing with or scolding everyone. Maybe Makarov was just that experienced and didn't worry about useless paperwork, while Sting was new, and worried about everything. Maybe Sting was right, maybe he was just stressed and accidentally lashed out.
"Good morning, Y/n!" Yukino came up from behind you and joined you at your side.
"Good morning, Yukino. How are you?"
"I'm good. But I wanted to talk to you about something. Something... important." She looked uneasy, and even spun her head around as if she was looking around the guild for something, or someone.
"Yeah sure, what's up?"
"We should talk in the open like this, considering... you know."
"I know?"
"The two new wizards who joined."
"Oh, right. I understand." You nodded.
"Let's step into the pool area." Yukino said quietly, and dragged you towards the pool. Once you both secured the place and confirmed that no one had followed you or was in the room with you, Yukino took a deep breath.
"What is this about, Yuki?" You asked her, but she looked nervous.
"Well, it's about Calista. At first I thought it was nothing, she seemed pretty nice. But she seems to be asking a lot of questions about you."
"Oh?" You crossed your arms.
"Well, you and Sting. She seems to be more focused on Sting, though. But since you two are always together, she maybe wanting to.. uhm..."
"Just say it, Yukino."
"Get you out of the picture so she can be closer to Sting. When she first joined, I don't think she knew that you and Sting were together, or that he even had a girlfriend."
You took a deep breath and exhaled. "That's not really something I wanted to hear."
"I know, I'm sorry. But I just had to tell you. And I couldn't mention it yesterday because you all stepped for a while."
"Right."
"Are you mad?"
"Not at you, I'm actually glad that you told me. I feel like now I can... better prepare?"
"Prepare for what?"
"Murder if I need to."
"Y/n!"
"I'm kidding! But in all seriousness, I do not trust her at all. Something is way off."
"Sting feels the same about Kaylus." Yukino sighed. "I should have convinced Sting to not let any new people join."
"It's alright. But we should head back in. I don't need Calista trying to break into his office again."
Yukino nodded, and both of you left the pool area. Joining everyone back into the guild hall, you noticed that some of the guys were surrounding Calista, who had just walked in. She was eating up the attention, of course. You grumbled a bit, which didn't go unnoticed by Yukino.
"Just play along for a while until we can figure it out." Yukino said, and you nodded.
"I think I'm going to go bother Sting." You told her, and quickly made your way to his office door. You knocked, and waited for a reply, but there was none. You knocked again, because maybe Sting thought you were someone else and didn't bother answering. As you were about to knock again for the third time, Sting answered the door looking unamused, but his facial expression changed when he realized it was you. He was all smiles, and pulled you in quickly, locking the door behind the two of you.
When the door was locked he seemed to collapse into you. He wrapped his arms around your waist and rested his face in the crook of your neck. He would breathe softly and leave little kisses.
"Stressed?" You asked, reaching to play with his hair.
"A little. A lot seems to be happening."
"Tell me about it."
"The exchange program is happening as we speak. Fairy Tail is making their way through all the guilds, and they'll be getting to us soon. The council will be canceling the program just as they get here so we can do something with the island."
"Right, the island. So the council knows?"
"They've been informed. I think they're checking it out today. If everything is on schedule, Fairy Tail should arrive tomorrow."
"Well that's good, isn't it?"
"I guess so. I don't know. I wish everything would just slow down. It's like we've gotten no break since the Magic Games."
"I know what you mean." You sighed.
"I wish this paperwork would all go away. I hate being locked up in this office doing nothing but staring at words that make my eyes go blurry. I hate meeting deadlines that seem impossible to make. It's all just so stressful."
"I know, my love." You said softly, raising his head a bit so that you could see his face. "But I'll tell you something. When I was a kid at Fairy Tail, o don't remember Makarov doing any paperwork at all! I actually remember him burning papers sent by the magic council. And then Natsu ate it!"
"Natsu ate paper?"
"It was on fire, and I'm shocked you think that isn't a Natsu thing to do." You chuckled a bit."
"Yeah, I guess so." He sighed.
"Sting, I'm proud of you. So proud of you." You smiled, caressing his cheek.
"Really?"
"Mhm. Not everyone has the guts to fill in as a guild master. And you were strong enough to do it. You could have let Sabertooth disband, but you didn't. I'm proud of you for what you've done this far, and I know that— mm!"
Sting cut you off by kissing you suddenly. It shocked you at first, but you kissed him back, wrapping your arms around his neck. He pulled away after some time with a huge smile on his face. "Thank you, Y/n. I think I really needed to hear that from someone. For someone to be proud of me."
"I'll always be proud of you, Sting."
"I don't know what I did to deserve you." He smiled, and leaned down to kiss your forehead. "I wish we weren't so busy all the time so that we can have some time of ourselves. To do what we want. Because I need more than just... spending the night. Don't get me wrong, I like spending the night. It's very comforting, but... I need more time with you."
"I understand, I want more time with you too."
"How about this... after tomorrow when we figure out what's going on with that island, let's have the day to ourselves. No talking about the guild or paperwork, just you and me, focusing on each other. Does that sound good?" You smiled so widely that you didn't even need to answer Sting's question. "I'll take that as a yes!"
"It's definitely a yes!"
"Good." He smiled back, and kissed the top of your head. "I know we see each other all the time, but I miss you... does that make sense?"
"Yes, it does. I miss you too."
"Well... hopefully we can have a day to ourselves with no interruptions."
