Neeomi (Illumini)

"Princess Neeomi, your tea."

"Extra sugar?"

"Of course, your highness."

"Thank you." I say as I gracefully take the burning cup of the famous Illumini tea from my servants gloved hand. Tea was a big thing in the light district, everyone on the star knew us for it. That's right, I was the princess of tea. Yay for me.

I flash a smile to my servant as they head out of my royal quarter, a.k.a my room. Lifting the cup to my mouth I take a small sip of the tea, relishing in the feeling of the warm sugary liquid drip down my throat. Nothing beats Illumini tea.

It was a slow day, both my parents had been out on some sort of meeting about the...problems Eternity, our planet, was facing. Everyone knew that raining of stars and going night for days wasn't a sign that something good was about to happen, it was bound to end in disaster. Being the light district, no sign of the sun didn't hit us too hard, we could just conjure up our own light, of course. The stars raining did do a lot of damage, though.

There were rumors that it was going to happen tonight. I sigh, flickering on the TV to see if there was any more news on why this all was happening, but instead I was met with an interview of someone from the powerless district, Prowless. How interesting, they rarely made appearances on TV.

I take another sip of my tea as I observe the person. It was a girl, her brown hair tied up into a bun, a few strands in the front, she had on a red cropped shirt and black jacket. A few birthmarks dotted her face as she awkwardly waved at the camera. I turn up the volume to hear what all is going on.

"Um, hi! My name is Lucia Arnet, and today I'm here to talk about my district Prowless." she said, her voice cracking out of nervousness. I smile to myself, inching closer to the TV.

"I have a movement, one in which I try to get all the other districts to see Prowless as more than just the powerless district. Sure, we may not have super cool abilities like everyone else. But, that doesn't mean we should be thought less of. I'm tired of constantly being seen as lower class just because I'm from Prowless. In fact, my dad owns a successful company, Turner Tech, in which all the districts buy from. Yet, they still treat us like we're worth less than dirt. My own mother left, looking for more in life than living like this, well supposedly. And I'm not suppose to talk about that...anyways! This is a message to the other four districts, Atlanticas with their ice, Illumini with their light, Wingstale with their flight, and Plantis with their flowers, to realize that even though Prowless doesn't have any of those cool things, that we are still a district here on Eternity, and we deserve to be seen as more!"

I lay my head to the palm of my hand, the way she talked mesmerized me. She was so passionate about her district, it was truly entrancing. I felt my face twist into a grin I didn't even know I was doing when mid way through the girl's speech, the TV cut out.

Weird. I walk up to my TV to see what the problem is, when suddenly I hear what sounds like repeated banging coming from outside. Quickly running up to one of my grand windows, I peer through the curtains as I watch huge stars fall from the sky, as soon as they hit the ground they shattered into millions of pieces, like glass.

"Oh dart!" I yell, quickly running from my window and sliding under my bed. I hold my head as I hear the banging slowly get louder and louder. "Please stop, please stop, please stop." I mutter under my breath. I take one my hand off my head and begin twirling my index finger around to cast a small bulb of light, illuminating the small space under my bed. Sadly, I'm too nervous to keep it going. It collapses in my hand, causing everything to go back to black. I groan, trying to create another one but failing.

I need to calm myself down.

But before I can, the thudding sounds go to a stop, giving my ears a rest. I quickly scramble from out of my bed. My room is still fine, somethings had fallen from my dresser or tipped over but was mostly okay. Stumbling back over to my window, I look out to see the state of everything else. I curse to myself upon seeing complete chaos. Some houses are destroyed, roofs cracked, while trees are demolished, little sparkles decorated the ground from the stars that shattered. While it seems that other stars are still mostly intact, hanging in bushes and whatnot. They look as though they're made of yellow-stained glass, I'd never seen starts so close up before, up until this little predicament kept on repeating.

I hear a knock at my door, snapping me out of the daze I was in, before it slams open, my mother running in, father close behind.

She hugs me tightly, "Oh, Neeomi, you're okay! We were so worried!" she rambles, prepping kisses all over my face.

I manage to push her off, "I'm okay, are you guys?"

"We're fine." my dad pipes in, with seemingly no emotion on his cold face.

"Well Illumini isn't, have you looked outside yet? It's complete chaos!" I say, gesturing to outside my window.

"Don't you worry your pretty little face about it sweetie, we're gonna take care of it. We'll make sure everyone is okay."

I sigh, "Good. Because if Illumini is this bad, imagine the state the other districts are in. This star-fall was a heavy one!"

"The state of the other districts isn't our problem. We focus of Illumini." says father, rather matter-of-factly.

"I know I know, but still, we can check up on them." I mutter, "I hope that girl on the news is okay." I whisper, mostly to myself, still within range for father to hear.

"Ugh, you had the 'pleasure' of seeing her too?" he asks, "What was her name, Lucy? It doesn't matter, you mustn't listen to her blasphemous rambling. These powerless have always been so dramatic, jealous of all the other districts' powers."

I cross my arms, "I'm pretty sure it was Lucia, and also she didn't seem jealous or dramatic. She was speaking from the heart, and maybe it is due time to give Prowless a little more recognition. You're literally wearing one of their watches!" I shout, pointing to the golden 'Turner Tech' watch father has wrapped around his wrist.

He quickly laces his hands behind his back, "That doesn't matter. And as Princess of Illumini, our district should be the most important subject to you. Not some girl whining on television." he says sternly, turning his back and walking out my room.

I groan, flopping onto my bed as my mother gently sits down next to me, "You know he only has your best interest at heart, right? He just cares so much for Illumini and for you." defends mother, rubbing her hand up and down my arm.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Whatever, I still wanna make sure everyone of Eternity is okay. It doesn't matter if I'm only Princess of Illumini, I can still make sure everyone else is alright." I say.

My mother grabs my mini tiara off my head, using her sleeve to wipe it, I usually don't wear one, but did today. "That's what I love about you, dear. So caring about everyone else, one could argue that is why you're the Princess, now come on dear, let's check on our people." she says, handing me back my tiara.

I sit up and gracefully put it on my head, "You're right, let's go." I say, standing up with her and walking out of my room.

For any wondering, "luciform" means relating to or having the same characteristics of light. I thought it fit pretty well, dealing with the light district and the falling of stars!
