Lucia (Prowless)"I look like a banana."
"No, you look...stylish!"
"Neeomi," I sigh, turning to face the princess, "I look like a banana."
Staring at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but cringe at how the long, fitted, yellow dress hugged my body. Yellow definitely was not my color.
"I am not wearing this." I mutter, beginning to unzip the back.
Neeomi is quick to stop me, slapping my hands away before re-zipping the dress. "Well, too bad! We don't have time for an outfit change. Plus, it was your mom's, don't you wanna wear one of her dresses?"
"It probably looked a lot better on her than me." I retort, running my fingers over the rhinestones that dotted the top of the dress.
"Hey," said Neeomi softly, so softly that it caused me to turn around to face her, "I think you look beautiful."
Her words were laced with such sincerity and genuine adoration it immediately caused my face to explode in red blush, as I quickly turned around to face myself in the mirror once more. "Thanks." I murmur, desperately trying to cool my hot face.
I feel Neeomi place her hands on my shoulders, looking at me through the mirror, "I mean it. Now come on, let's go!" she says, before pushing me out of the room. As soon as we walk out into the living room, I feel a pair of eyes zoom in on me.
"You're wearing your mom's dress." I hear a voice say the from the couch, the gruff undertone immiedlatly letting me know it was dad.
"I am." I say, giving him a little spin to showcase the whole dress.
Dad smiles ever so slightly, before standing up, walking towards me. "You look great." he says, taking my hands in his own, "It's very...yellow."
I scoff, dropping his hands, turning my head to side. "Gee thanks, I didn't notice." I mutter, hearing dad laugh from beside me.
"And you Neeomi, what a sight! You look amazing." Dad says, switching his attention to the princess.
Brining my gaze to her face, I felt a smirk playing at my lips as I watched a light shade of pink begin to coat her cheeks. "Thank you, Turner." she says lightly, obviously not expecting the compliment.
I laugh, wrapping my arm around her shoulder, "Yeah she does! Now, if you'll excuse us, father, but we have some princess duties to attend to." I say in my best snooty voice, causing Neeomi to giggle.
Dad raises an eyebrow, "Is that so? Well then, I wish you both luck on your journey." he says, arching his back into a polite bow, "Until next time, your majesties."
I raise my nose into the air, as if dad was nothing but a peasant at my feet, hiding my smile. Giving Neeom a light jab with my shoulder, I gesture for her to do the same. She laughs before copying me, as we both take elegant strides out of the house.
"A good day to you, kind sir!" she shouts back at my dad, faking an accent.
Dad lifts his hand in a wave good-bye as I promptly shut the door behind us harshly, breaking out in laughter with Neeomi. My chest burned as I couldn't get myself to stop, almost tripping down the steps of my house, Neeomi single-handedly keeping me standing, wiping her eye of a joyous tear.
