"What do you mean you can't come to Busan?" Bitna whined as she sat opposite Seojun on one of the many cafeteria tables, looking at him with lost puppy dog eyes.

The older boy let out a huff and dug his metal chopsticks into his side dish. "I told you, my oldman wants me to help out at the garage, he thinks it'll make me more of a man if I do 'manly' things." He explained, shrugging his shoulders and subtly rolling his eyes.

Bitna's creased her brows together and shook her head in confusion. "'Manly things'? How is travelling to Busan not manly? How it like any kind of gender?" She questioned, looking at her best friend in pure disbelief.

"I don't know," Seojun sighed and slouched his shoulders. "I'm sorry I can't come with you, can you ask Nari to go with you instead?" He wondered, Bitna slowly nodding and humming in response.

"Yeah, fine, whatever.  Just make sure you page me." She stated, warning him by waving her chopsticks in his face — a crack of a smile peering out onto her face.

The two laughed for a moment before Seojun's face turned pale, his eyes practically bulging out of his head. "Shit! I completely forgot about your mother's anniversary." He complained, causing Bitna to stiffen and glance down at her lap.

"Oh- yeah, it's fine, I wasn't expecting you to remember or anything.." she quietly replied, a part of her wanting to reject the choices of words she just spoke and instead tell him how she really feels about him forgetting.

She wanted to tell him how hurt she felt. They had been friends for practically all their lives, he had remembered every other anniversary except this one. She wanted to explain how it hurt her and made her feel forgotten, how it made her feel like her mum was irrelevant and that the anniversary didn't need to be remembered anymore.

But she didn't, for the first time in Bitna's life, she stayed quiet and bit back her truthful words.

"What did you do for it?" Seojun asked, looking at the girl in front of him with worry and complexion. He had never felt so guilty in his life, this was his best friend, how could he forget the day that she despises most?

"Not much, my dad was more upset than usual. He mostly just stayed tucked away in his room." She answered, "and you know Nari, she isn't one to go on about herself nor her feelings."

Seojun slowly nodded, even the sound of someone saying Nari's name made his heart ache. He missed her, missed being around her and accompanying her around everywhere. Ever since she begun talking to Lee Heeseung, the two hadn't been as close.
