"Okay baby....I know, I know...okay...."
Irie cooed repeatedly, as Onyx's cries only grew louder and louder. The three month old infant was wet and hungry...again and Irie was beginning to feel a bit flustered.
Tired, sleepy, hungry and overstimulated, the new mother just wanted sleep. After being up throughout the night and early morning, she was running on three hours of sleep.
"Alright, alright. Let's change you really quick okay, then we eat. I promise Onnie," Irie laid the small infant down in his bassinet before beginning the process of diapering him.
His small leg kicking made Irie crack a smile, as she opened up the small Huggie diaper. A complete contrast from when he was first born, Onyx was now a bit more chubbier, with full, fat jaws and a beautiful, smooth medium brown complexion. His hair was black and thick, curled to perfection and his eyes were gray. His cries still sounded though, as Irie hurriedly changed the upset baby.
"Okay...okay, all done see baby...all done," Irie said softly, quickly tossing the diaper in the small scented trash can before Heru appeared.
He'd been watching from the door for a few seconds before slowly walking behind her, slightly startling her.
"Oh...shit, do not do that," Irie scrunched her face up in annoyance, while Heru chuckled.
"Damn, my bad," he placed a kiss on her cheek before looking down into the bassinet. Smiling wide, Heru was happy his first born was woke, looking right at him despite still crying.
"Aww, commere man," he cooed, carefully picking up the infant and cradling him close.
"Wassup man? Huh? Oh, Mama moving too slow huh? Mama taking all day huh, ha."
Irie released a small breath, happy as hell Heru was back.
"You washed your hands right?" she asked as Heru shook his head, his eyes still glued on Onyx.
"Yep...say duh...say dada always wash his hands to hold the lil king right?" Heru said, as he began to walk around his room.
Having moved just a month ago, the couple were now in a bigger, two bedroom apartment in Greenwich Village, which meant that baby Onyx had his own room once he got a bit older. For now though, he was sleeping with his parents in a co-sleeper bassinet. Even still, Irie liked changing him in his room before moving back to theirs.
"How you feelin' today huh? You feeling' good man? You looking good," Heru cooed, steady rocking him.
Despite feeling more than ecstatic that Heru was back to help, she also couldn't help that wavering feeling that quickly covered her like a thick cloak, making her feel like complete shit, as Onyx immediately went quiet.
