It turned out that the mysterious destination Jake was being led to by his group of acquaintances was the old chapel, an abandoned, gothic building standing seemingly on its own on the campus grounds.

Jake took in the building as they came across it — it was clearly aged, with the brickwork chipped away at and the wooden door a little rotted.  His eyes travelled up to the roof, which was visibly rusted and rickety looking, a metal spire at one end with a small, broken clock tower underneath and had a weather vane sticking precariously out from the brickwork.

Beside him, Raleigh explained, "It's not used anymore since it's no longer a Catholic school.  Technically, we're not supposed to go in, but nobody stops us."

"Well, campus security is a little more strict as of recent events," Mali began, "So I'd skip the history lesson if I were you."

Willa commented, "Someone's in a pissy mood."

She opened the door, letting her friends into the building, Eilidh going first as she took out her zippo lighter, grabbing a candelabra that was situated near the door.

"You're not religious are you, new guy?" she asked, heading off down the dimly lit aisle to find a small bundle of string lights and turning them on.

Jake looked around the still dark room, replying, "Not particularly."

"Good." She sat the candelabra down on a dusty organ, reaching underneath and pulling out a bottle of whisky, which she set on the steps, alongside a box.

Jake wandered over to sit on the front row bench, soon being joined by Raleigh, Manuela and Willa whilst Brody, Amrit and Mali sat in the opposite row.  Eilidh opened the box, which contained a stash of cannabis leaves and paper roll ups and took one out for herself, lighting it up.

"You smoke?" she asked Jake, taking a draw.

Jake shook his head, "Not since I was fifteen."

"Shame." She passed the joint to Raleigh, who also took a hit before passing it along to Willa, who Eilidh acknowledged, "Will, you're up."

Willa also took a draw, handing the joint over to Brody as she pushed herself up — Mali refused Brody's offer for a smoke, as did Amrit and so he passed it back to his sister, who sat down in Willa's seat.  Jake winced at the strong smell coming from the joint.

Willa wandered to the front, heading up to the pulpit and clearing her throat before taking on a variation of her stage voice, speaking clearly and yet in a hushed enough tone as to not draw attention to herself, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to commemorate the short, yet eventful life of one Laura Lee Armstrong.   Though in our lives for a matter of weeks, Laura made quite the impact, so that her untimely passing has come as quite a shock to us all."

"Or a relief." Mali commented under her breath and everyone shot her a surprised look, with the exception of Eilidh, who's mouth twitched with a wry smile.

Jake was horrified, asking, "What the hell does that mean?"

"I said what I said." Mali defended, "Oh, right." she cocked her head, "You're new here, you have no idea what she was like.  Go ahead, Will."

Willa continued, "From the first day she arrived, Laura Lee Armstrong walked around the campus as if she owned the place, but little did anybody know, she wasn't like us.   She wasn't of money like us, but came to the college on a scholarship.  Naturally, that made her get high on her own power." her eyes stung with tears, "As a roommate, she was awful.  Nosy, prodding and a downright thief.  I told her on day one that I didn't like people touching my stuff and yet..." she gave a small, trembling smile and picked up the bottle of whisky, opening it and taking a swig, "To Laura, the worst friend and roommate I've ever had.   I now give the Morrison siblings the stand."
