Janet
I groaned and turned over in bed. Opening my eyes, I was met with the beautiful sight of the beach right out of my window. I sat up on my side and just took it all in. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I stretched as I sat up in bed. Pushing myself against the headboard, I just took in everything. The ocean, the skyline, the beach, it was all so beautiful. It made me feel calm and relaxed. A perfect way to wake up on your wedding day. Well, almost perfect.
Denzy and I had decided to sleep separately for the night. Apparently, he wanted to make sure I followed all of the wedding traditions, including the bride and groom not seeing each other the night before the wedding. It was rough. I was hoping to wake up to this view with him, but he was determined. He even kept Eissa when he decided to have a guy's night when we got here. He wanted me to have a girl's night, but I just wanted to have a quiet night to myself if I couldn't be with Denzel.
It was finally fully settling in at this moment that I would be spending the rest of my life with him. For some weird reason, this felt like the only real marriage I was getting into. The ones before always felt like business transactions, but this is the real thing. The thing I never thought I'd have. Something I thought I had gotten too old for and it came with a new baby. My second baby. Two babies. I'm going to have two babies. I'm going to be a wife. For the first time ever, I know that I am going to truly be treated as a wife. I'll finally be happy to say I have a husband. No secrets. No hiding. No fear. Just love.
"Surprise!" I jumped as my door opened and my sisters came in with Gil. I smiled.
"You guys." They came and jumped on the bed.
"Happy wedding day!" Rebbie screamed. I laughed as they threw confetti.
"Yay!"
"Babygirl."
"Mother!" She came over to the bed and sat next to me.
"My baby's getting married and having another baby. I'm so happy for you."
"Thanks, mother."
"Now, because you're pregnant we can't do the whole champagne thing, we got sparkling white grape juice." said LaToya. I laughed and sat up. Toy passed around the champagne glasses and poured the juice. We all took a sip and Gil stood up.
"Okay, Booty. I've known you since husband number two." We laughed. "And we've been through a lot together. I've enjoyed it though. We've had so many great memories. So many great travels. I love you girl and I'm so happy that you're finally getting your happiness."
"Aww, Gilly Bear. I love you too."
"Okay, my turn." Toy stood up. "Jan, despite everything we've been through, you're my baby sister and I love you. No one knows the type of pain you've been through more than me and I just want to say that you've been such an inspiration to me. You're strong, beautiful, and talented. You're an amazing mother and I hope one day, though not biologically, I get the chance to do what you did. Today is your day. The day you deserve. The universe owed you and it paid you in full and then some. Congrats." I felt tears come to my eyes.
"I love you too, Toy Toy." She came and sat next to me. I laid on her shoulder as Rebbie got up.
"I'm not going to do too much talking, because I'm always telling you what you mean to me. So I'll just give you some advice. I can tell this marriage is different for you and it's very important to have the necessary tools. Always communicate and listen. Never forget the love you two have for each other. There's going to be moments where you two will fight and argue. There's going to be nights where you'll go to bed upset. Never believe what those others say about, it will happen. Don't forget your marriage is the most important thing. The kids are important, yes, but don't forget each other and definitely don't lose yourself, because you're an amazing person."
