                                     ~Mia Fewtrell~

The voice I very well knew. All the memories were rushing right back, as I had just realised how much I truly missed him, Lando, our neighbour, my brothers best friend, my old friend.

"Mia? Mia is that you?"

He repeats as I turn around to meet his gazing green eyes. The green eyes I haven't seen in 5 years, the green eyes I was always jealous of whoever got to stare in them longer. The green eyes I even used to stare at and joke about when we were kids. I really missed him.

"Surpriseee" I whisper yell back to him.

"What? What are you doing here?" He says pulling me into a tight hug and I sink.

When his manly hands took me in I forgot everything I've ever known. Why did I even leave in the first place, what was I doing staying away from my family and him for 5 years straight. I even forgot my own name. I didn't know what was happening, or why my body reacted the way it did to him hugging me. He's my brother's best friend, and I always saw him like a brother, so what was even happening. Even tho it was a 3 second hug it felt like hours that he held me. I got lost in my thoughts and sinked deep into it, posting track of reality. I needed to pull myself back together.

"Ummm.." I try to pull myself together and get out some words
"I took a few days off to meet some old acquaintances of mine." I jokingly let out.

"Hah, funny! How come all of a sudden you can take days off?" He asks me suspiciously raising his eyebrow.

He always knows when I lie so I better tell a good one in order for him to believe me. I'll try to just give a plausible reason, I don't feel like letting people know about not having my job still.

" I just needed a break to be honest and also I really missed Max and my parents, so here I am." I lie.

"Right" he says still suspicious, moment when my phone goes off saying to go in as Max was there, perfect timing.

"Come, I'm surprising Max" I tell Lando as I turn to head in.

"Oh man, I wanna see the look on his face." Lando says as he follows me closely.

"Surpriseee" I yell out from behind him. Moment in which he turns desperately with a hand over his heart, mimicking a heart attack.

"Wha..?" He says shocked at what he sees in front of his eyes.

"Aren't you gonna give me a hug" I say as I move closer to him. "Didn't you miss me?"

"Of course I did!" He almost yells as he brutally pulls me into the long awaited hug. We stay like this for a good moment, and when we pull away I notice a little tear in his eye.

"I see someone missed me quite a lot" I mock him laughing.

"What? How are you here?" He says still in slight shock.

"I decided it's been long enough since we've seen each other. What? Aren't you happy?"

"Of course I ammm, I'm just still in shock. I didn't expect to see you on a random Thursday at one of my races!"

He was right, it was quite random. I always thaught the next time we'll see each other will be a big event like Max getting engaged or a birthday party that I could finally attend.

Lando, my family and the team all look at us in awe and chuckle at our funny conversation.

"How come they let you off of work? Whatever you did, I'm so glad I finally get to see you."

"Hah" I nervously laugh. "Well I surely did a big step that got me coming here, let's leave it at that" I nervously let out trying to avoid the truth

"Oooh uau, did little miss Fewtrell get a promotion, is that it?" My brother asks excited, not knowing it's the actual opposite.

"Sure!" I say trying to look convincing. Moment in which Lando raises a brow again suspiciously again. I feel like he can read right through me, so I decide to continue:
" I was indeed promoted, and not just a regular promotion, you're now looking at the new manager assistant of my branch."

"Oh my god that's great" Max says as he hugs me again. My parents giving me a weird look.

I just didn't want to break out my bad news yet, I didn't even process it yet on my own, I don't want to dump it on other people as well, so they can give me pitty hugs and looks.

"Does that mean you can come home more often? Or to races of mine? Or at least to family events?" Max continues exited

"Wow, chill down, I'll have to see but I'm sure I'll have a lot more free time now that I'm not going to be working like a dog still.." I laugh nervously.
