~Mia Fewtrell~
As we reached the McLaren paddock, I was back to reality, I stopped dreaming about Lando and his t-shirt and started remembering I need to keep my mind straight and stop thinking something could happen between us. I mean it was basically one day ago that he literally told me he hated me, and here I was fantasising.
"I'm going for a walk around here if that's fine" I say, not wanting to head into the paddock just yet.
"Sure, whatever, just be back in time for the free practice if you want to see us" Max says
"Sure, of course. See you" I turn and I look in which direction I want to head
"See you" they both say while heading in
I started to walk along the rest of the teams, and as I reached the end I decide to exit the paddock area and head to the Fan zone, to see how many people were there and what were they doing. I always heard there's thousands of crazy fans at f1 race weekends and what a great experience it is to be surrounded by all this support so I wanted to see it with my own eyes.
I haven't been to an f1 race since I was young and my father used to take me and my mom to see the races with him and Max. My dad was obsessed with formula 1 since we were babies. I sometimes kind of get the feeling this is him living his dream through Max... . Back when we used to go to the races the fans were basically old and rich people, just like at horse races, the grandstands still were full of fans but they weren't the ordinary girls that only like the drivers, there used to be people that were passionate about the sport, not just obsessed. So you can imagine walking in the fan zone was more chill than now, there are always the obsessed fans like in any other sport... it's just that it's getting out of hand these days.
After a long walk and meeting with some people that recognised me and asked for pictures, I decided to slowly head back as the practice was starting in about 10 minutes. People were all in a hurry to get to the grandstands in order to watch their favourite drivers give it their best, just like me hurting back to the paddock.
I reached the gate for the paddock entry and I'm stopped by the security guard.
"I'm sorry miss, this area is reserved for VIP and paddock members only"
"Yea, I know, I am one" I say as I look down while I try to reach on my neck and see that I don't have my pass around my neck. I didn't need it earlier because I was going in with Lando and Max, but now, I needed it, and it was probably in my purse that the guys took into the hospitality.
"Yes, all the fans are then" he mocks me and laughs trying to push me out of the way
"Nono, you don't understand, I forgot my pass inside, I swear" I desperately try to convince him
"Miss, please, I've heard all excuses possible. Now could you move to the side, other people want to pass"
I turn to look and I see a guy in a red suit coming closer On a scooter, getting ready to enter as well. As he got here I noticed he's Carlos Sainz, another f1 driver, competing with my brother and Lando. Before he shows his pass I try to ask him for help.
"Hi, sorry, I'm Mia, I'm Max's sister, could you please tell him to either bring me my pass or come get me, just tell him Mia is here please!" I desperately beg
"Mia? Mia Fewtrell?" he asks
"Yes, that's me, I don't know if you trust me that I'm his sister but I really hope you do and call him because I forgot my pass and I'm really in a hurry back"
"Of course, I know you, Max talked about you many times, come on!"
" Let her through, she's with me" he tells the guard while taking my hand to direct me forward"With all due respect sir, she still doesn't have her pass" the man adds
"I said it's fine, she's with me" he repeats and this time, the man moves to the side letting us both in.
As we take a few steps away from the guard. I tell him while letting go of his hand:
"Thank you so much, thank you for trusting me, I really am his sister, I can prove it when I get my purse back!"
"No need, I know you Mia, from Max and Lando, I've also seen you on instagram" he says with a smirk and I can feel I'm turning red
"Oh, okay then"I get out
"I saw you from further away, i recognised you, I was going to say hi either way. You talking to me first, needing my help, was just the perfect opening" he laughs with a confident smile
"Hah.. ok, well in that case I'm glad I forgot my pass, letting you swoop in like a hero and help me" I say trying to match his confidence from earlier
"Makes two of us." He says while still with his handsome smile on his face
"Do you want a tour of the Ferrari garage? We have the practice now, you could also stay and watch from there" he continues"Oh, thank you, but I really have to head back to McLaren, I promised I'd watch from there. But I'd like to take a rain check on that offer" words come out of my mouth without thinking about it too much, I'm not usually this confident, but his flirty comments got me going
"Sure, anytime, you can text me. Here!" He says as he hands me his phone to put my number in it
"Uh, ok, sure" I say as I take it and put my contact in.
I was too busy concentrating on the phone to notice the cameraman with the huge camera coming closer to us.
"Thank you' let me give you a beep so you have it as well" he says as he rings my phone. I didn't have it on me as it was also in my purse with everything else
"Thank you.."
"Oh.. that scared me" I say as I turned to see the guy with the camera."Ya, you'll get used to them if you stick around. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a practice to get to." He says nicely
"Sure of course, see you later!" I tell him as he turns to head to his garage
"Bye Miaaa" he says and it gets me to chuckle a bit
I turn to leave, just when I notice the cameraman still there. I excuse myself and leave heading towards the McLaren garage in a hurry.
