SUNDAY MORNING FELT A little crazy. Layla was awoken by her younger cat, Romeo, knocking the candle off the side table, which immediately made her realize she fell asleep on the couch. Again.
Her bed was very comfortable, and she just wishes she could make it there at least once a week, but she gets caught up in work and then will just binge watch in the living room until she falls asleep.
Once she gets the energy to get up, she grabs the broom and dust pan, shooing the cats away from the mess as she cleans all of the glass and wax off the floor. Even though the table wasn't very high, apparently the candles are not that durable.
The moment she was done cleaning everything up, she made her way through her bedroom, glancing at her made bed, and then walked into her bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror for a long time, realizing just how tired she looks.
She let out a heavy sigh, going and turning on the shower water. She let the hot water run over her as she once again thought about yesterday. But that was the last thing she needed to worry about.
This whole weekend they've gotten a ton of shipment in so even if the store itself wasn't busy, it was all hands on deck.
Tonight they're staying late to change up some of the tables since a ton of people have been requesting a Booktok table. And because they are a small business, taking customer requests like this was super easy to do.
Layla finished up her shower, checking the time on her phone to see it reading 9:24. She wrapped a towel around her body and put one in her hair before stepping out and going out to her bedroom.
She sat at her vanity, doing her usual makeup which was a full face with a small winged eyeliner and mascara. Layla hated blow drying her hair, so she let it down and brushed it, hoping it'll be dry by the time she has to leave.
Technically the opener had to be at the store an hour before they opened, but she knew Londyn would be there and since she's a manager, she could do all opening duties.
Layla wasn't planning on taking as long to get ready as she did, so unfortunately she didn't have time to do any of her household chores before leaving for work.
She quickly slipped on her converse, and grabbed her purse. As she ran out to the kitchen to fill up her water, she could hear her cats meowing at her to be fed, which reminded her that she hasn't eaten yet this morning either. But that was a problem for later.
Once the cat bowls were filled, she locked her apartment door, and headed to her car. The time was 10:32 by the time she got to the store, so she had about thirty minutes until open.
As she unlocked the front door and walked in, she noticed Londyn opening the registers. Layla was relieved, since she hated doing anything with the registers. It was just a long process and she didn't feel like doing it even though she had to majority of the time.
"Oh, hey Layla. We're pretty much ready to open. I just have to take the trash out if you'll prop the back door." Londyn said, closing the register in front of her and clicking on the tablet.
Layla nodded her head, "No, I'll do it. Thanks for opening for me. I appreciate it."
"Yeah, no problem. Abigail came in and the cafe is already open from the outside window." Londyn started. "Want me to go over there and help? They seemed pretty swamped."
"If you don't mind. Just prop the door for me really quick." Layla said as she set her stuff down in the back room and wheeled the large trashcan through the back hallway, leading outside.
