LAYLA WAS LAYING IN bed, wrapped in the embrace of Spencer. Her eyes were closed as she kept dozing in and out of sleep, the TV playing in the background. She knew Spencer was awake, as they both had work today, but all she wanted to do was stay here in bed with him.

Just as she was about to doze back off, her next alarm on her phone went off. Layla groaned, rolling over and putting her head in the crook of Spencer's neck as he reached over and turned the alarm off.

Spencer rubbed her back gently, setting her phone back down on the nightstand that he was closer to. "Okay, we actually have to get up this time. I'll drive you to work."

Layla stretched out obnoxiously, groaning again. As she settled back down, she smiled at him, leaning over and giving him a quick kiss. She sat up, her right knee resting on Spencer's waist. "Okay. Let me get ready."

They both realized quickly after their date, they were going to be spending a lot of time together, so they started leaving their clothes and other personal things at each other's places. It wasn't on purpose, it just sort of happened. So, there was no worry about Spencer not having anything to get ready for work.

Layla had only stayed at Spencer's place once, as it was more convenient to just be at Layla's apartment. It was the more central point of both of their jobs, as Spencer was in the opposite direction, and he had to pass the bookstore to get to the Smosh office anyway.

Layla had just finished washing her face in the bathroom, walking out and sitting at her vanity. As she sat down, Spencer gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before she started her makeup, and then went into the bathroom himself.

She started with her makeup, doing the usual basic makeup. As she was finishing up with her blush after concealer, Spencer walked out of the bathroom, his hair now looking a little more put together.

Layla smiled sweetly at him through the mirror, him returning one. She noticed he was changed into clean clothes, just jeans and a sweatshirt. He laid back on the bed, scrolling as she finished up her makeup.

It was pretty much silent between the two as she finished getting ready, her just having music playing softly through her phone as Spencer was on Instagram. Layla finished her makeup, not putting on any lip gloss yet, then walked over to her closet.

A simple pair of jeans, tank top, and flannel were chosen from the closet, then her black converse to pair the outfit with. Layla dropped her converse by the bed on her way out to the bathroom, changing quickly, hanging her pajamas up on the back of the door.

She double checked her hair in the mirror, brushing through it quickly and then putting half of it into a claw clip, letting her face framing pieces fall. As she walked back out to her bedroom, Layla saw Spencer putting his shoes on, getting ready to go.

Layla quickly tied up her converse, realizing how badly she needs a new pair, the soles of them falling apart. She took a deep breath, standing up from the corner of the bed. "I really don't want to go to work."

Spencer chuckled, walking over to her and pulling her into a quick hug, Layla resting her head onto his shoulder, closing her eyes. "I know, but I'll come pick you up after."

"Yeah, I know." Layla lifted her head, pulling away from the hug and giving a small smile. "Ok, let's go before you're late."

They were definitely leaving early, at least for Layla. She just offered to go early with him and getting to the store early to open since Spencer had to be to work at 8:30, and her store didn't open till 10. She was probably just going to do some office work until then.

The entire car ride there, their hands were intertwined over the center console comfortably. Layla was connected to aux, playing music softly for the short car ride. She hummed along quietly, no words being said.

As Spencer pulled into one of the parallel parking spots right in front of the book shop, Layla felt a ping of disappointment. Every day that they've had to part for work, she wished they didn't have to. She knew that they wouldn't be able to spend every waking moment together, but the honeymoon stage of this relationship was hitting strong.

Layla leaned over the center console, resting one hand on Spencer's thigh for balance, and kissed him gently, him resting his hand on her upper arm. The two parted and Layla grabbed her purse, giving a quick goodbye and then walked to the store.

She quickly unlocked it, then locked it behind her as she made her way inside quickly. As she began walking through the store, fixing things here and there, she heard her name be called from the coffee shop.

There stood Abigail, the co owner of the coffee shop, waving her over. Layla set her purse and water bottle at the register before walking over to Abigail. "Hey. What's up?"

"So I was doing some office work this morning, and not to be the bearer of bad news, but the coffee shop is doing fine and the store isn't." Abigal started, "I know I'm just supposed to be on this side of the business, but I want to be able to help you in any way. We need to get more business."

Layla almost cut her off, not letting a moment of silence fall between the two. "Okay, thanks. I'll be in my office if you need me."

A million thoughts a minute were running through her mind. She almost started running from how fast she was walking, scooping up her purse and water and slammed the office door behind her.

Layla sat down at her chair not bothering to turn on the big light, just leaving the corner lamp on. She took her phone out, texting her work group chat and telling the girls that no one needs to come in today, as it seemed they wouldn't be busy as she compared to the rest of the week.

It didn't seem like any of them were concerned, just grateful for the day off. Only Indigo was on the schedule, but it wasn't rare that they would get called in. Layla was more confirming that they wouldn't.

As she finally logged into the system, she could confirm that they were doing really bad right now. Layla barely had enough money for this upcoming months rent, and she had to do payroll today.

The stress and anxiety were filling her body, and she didn't know how to deal with it. As she sat in the dark office, head in hands, there was only one thing on her mind. How to keep her business up and running.
