THE SURPRISING RUSH HAD just ended, the clock about to hit 2pm. Ever since the event was held at the store, it has been pretty busy. Especially around lunch time. Layla was sitting in the back, just now taking her lunch out of the mini fridge that she was supposed to have an hour ago.

She didn't even take her full hour she was supposed to, instead just finishing up in less than twenty minutes and heading back out to the floor where Londyn and Hannah both were. Londyn currently had a line up at the register as Hannah was lugging the cart around, stocking books.

As she walked out to the floor, going to help Hannah with her stock, she noticed Spencer walking into the store. Layla immediately turned on her heel and walked towards him with a smile. "Hey."

Spencer turned at her voice, looking a little taken aback. "Oh, hey. I can't stay long because I'm on lunch right now. But, our Christmas party is next month and everyone really wants you to go. And knowing me, I would forget to ask you if I didn't come right away." He grabbed her hand gently, rubbing small circles on the back.

Layla nodded with a smile. "Yeah, I would love to come. But you could've just texted me or something. I feel bad making you drive all this way on your lunch break."

He shrugged, "I don't mind. Plus I wanted to see you, it's been a few days."

A blush found its way to her cheeks, her skin turning a light pink color. A smile crept on her lips. "Aww, you missed me?" She said in a playful tone as she rested her hands on his chest and leaned in.

"Okay, I'm going back to work." Spencer turned around and began walking back to the door. Layla grabbed his hand, stopping him from going in the direction he was.

"I'm just messing with you!" She laughed, pulling him into a hug. He chuckled, gratefully returning her hug. "But you actually should head back soon. Isn't it like twenty minutes here from the office?"

Spencer nodded, releasing the hug but his hands remained on her arms. "Yeah, but I want to hang out here for a little longer."

Just those short words made Layla's heart full. She tilted her head with a soft smile. "Well, you can see me tonight. Let me know when you get home and I'll head over, okay?" He responded with a nod.

The rest of the day went by as slowly as possible since Layla now knew she was heading over to her boyfriend's house. It has been a few days since they've had any alone time, and she was craving it.

As the clock hit 6:37, a text rang through her phone. She not so gracefully snatched it off her kitchen counter while slipping in her socks. She braced herself on the counter, reading the notification, which was Spencer alerting her that he had arrived home.

She quickly grabbed her already packed bag sitting on her kitchen counter, then grabbed her keys and left. There was still rush hour traffic on her way, but to her advantage, it only added on about ten minutes to her drive.

Just as she pulled into the driveway, Spencer walked out the front door holding a full trash bag, barely noticing her getting out of her car. As he rounded the corner, his eyes caught sight of her, almost scaring him.

He steadied himself, smiling at her as he threw the bag into the bin. Spencer closed the lid and walked over to her, grabbing the bag slung over her shoulder. He pulled her into a hug, holding tightly for a moment. "How was work today?"

"It was fine. You came in right after our rush and around three we picked up again. But it was fine. Londyn was fine to close by herself." Layla leaned into him, taking in the hug as they walked to the front door. "What about you?"

Spencer opened the door, allowing her to walk in first as he followed close behind. "Also fine. I can't really complain." He closed the front door behind them and set the duffel bag on the couch.

Layla plopped herself down on the couch, laying across the entirety of it. It was much comfier then hers is, so she definitely preferred this. She turned her body to kind of lean over the arm of the couch, looking in Spencer's direction. "Hey. Have you ever seen Gilmore Girls?"

"Uh, no. But a lot of people at work like it." Spencer said as he walked back over to the couch, his purple hydro flask in one hand, and the green water bottle she left over about a week ago in the other. "Do you want to watch it?"

She sat up to let him sit down. "I mean, it is a staple fall show. I feel it's only right." Layla smiled, grabbing the water bottle from him. She took a sip of it, then leaned over him to set it on the side table.

Spencer grabbed the remote and opened up Netflix, allowing her to find where Gilmore Girls was. Right at episode one they started, her eyes immediately being glued to the television screen in front of her.

Just the opening song 'There She Goes' immediately made her heart feel warm and body feel comfort like no other. She was quietly singing alone, watching as Lorelei walked into Luke's Diner.

She could feel eyes glued on her, but that didn't matter to her. She was sitting criss-crossed on the couch, her water bottle sitting in the little opening between her and Spencer, and eyes still not leaving the screen. But just knowing Spencer was looking at her, she looked over.

   "What?"

He shrugged, looking at the TV, but throwing an arm around her. She playfully scoffed, turning her body to look at him. "No, we're not doing this again. What?"

Spencer smiled and followed her movement of turning to look at the girl in front of him. "Nothing, really. I just enjoy watching you enjoy something. That's all."

The same pink tint that found its way to her face earlier arose once again, causing her to clear her throat and look back at the screen. He threw an arm around her once again, this time Layla giving in and leaning into him, resting her head on his shoulder.
