Gabi lounged on the plush sofa in Daya's penthouse, her hand resting on her growing belly. The expansive view of the city skyline was breathtaking, but tonight, her mind was elsewhere. She couldn't ignore the nagging feeling in the back of her mind, the feeling that something was off.

Daya had been taking secret phone calls and leaving the room to talk in hushed tones. It had been happening more frequently, and each time it left Gabi with a knot of worry in her stomach.

"Who keeps calling you?" Gabi asked one evening, unable to keep the curiosity and concern out of her voice.

Daya hesitated, looking at Gabi with a mix of guilt and determination. "Just... business stuff, babe. Nothing to worry about."

But Gabi wasn't convinced. The secrecy was eating away at her. "If it's just business, why do you always have to leave the room?"

Daya opened her mouth to respond, but her phone rang again. She glanced at the screen and immediately stood up. "I need to take this. I'll be right back."

Gabi watched as Daya walked out of the room, her frustration mounting. She loved Daya deeply, but the lack of transparency was starting to drive a wedge between them.

When Daya returned, Gabi had made up her mind. "I'm going back home to my and Daniel's apartment," she said, her voice firm. "You're being so secretive, and I can't handle it."

Daya's eyes widened in surprise and hurt. "Gabi, please don't go. I promise, it's not what you think."

Gabi shook her head, her heart aching. "I need some space. When you're ready to be honest with me, you know where to find me."

With that, Gabi gathered her things and left the penthouse, her emotions a whirlwind of confusion and sadness.

---

As soon as Gabi was out of sight, Daya slumped onto the couch, her head in her hands. She had been dreading this moment, but she knew she couldn't keep the secret any longer.

She picked up her phone and dialed a familiar number. "Hey, it's me," she said when the call connected. "We need to talk. I can't keep this from Gabi any longer."

On the other end of the line was her ex, Isabella, the mother of her three-year-old daughter, Selena. Isabella had recently reached out after years of silence, and the sudden reappearance had thrown Daya's life into chaos.

"I understand," Isabella replied softly. "But please, be gentle with her. She deserves to know the truth."

Daya nodded, even though Isabella couldn't see her. "I will. And thank you for understanding."

After hanging up, Daya leaned back, staring at the ceiling. She had a daughter, Selena, who was now three years old. Selena was a beautiful little girl with sparkling eyes and a smile that could light up a room. She also had autism, specifically Asperger's syndrome, which made her incredibly unique and special in Daya's eyes.

Selena had been the result of a high school romance with Isabella, a Latina woman Daya had loved deeply in her youth. Their relationship had been passionate but tumultuous, and they had parted ways shortly after Selena's birth. Daya had been heartbroken, but she had respected Isabella's decision to raise Selena on her own.

Now, Isabella had reached out, wanting to reconnect and allow Daya to be a part of Selena's life. The news had been both a blessing and a challenge, and Daya hadn't known how to tell Gabi.

Gabi returned to the apartment she shared with Daniel, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. Daniel noticed her distress immediately.

"Hey, what's going on?" he asked, pulling her into a comforting hug.

Gabi sighed, leaning into her brother's embrace. "Daya's been taking these secret calls and acting weird. I just couldn't take it anymore, so I left."

Daniel nodded, understanding. "Give her some time. I'm sure she'll come around and explain everything."

Gabi nodded, trying to hold on to hope. She knew Daya loved her, but the secrecy was tearing her apart.

---

The next day, Gabi was in the middle of a particularly vivid dream when her phone rang. She groggily reached for it, seeing Daya's name on the screen. Her heart skipped a beat as she answered.

"Gabi, can we talk?" Daya's voice was filled with earnestness and regret.

"Okay," Gabi replied cautiously. "Where are you?"

"I'm outside your apartment," Daya said.

Gabi took a deep breath, feeling a mix of anxiety and curiosity. She got out of bed, slipped on a robe, and went to the door.

Daya stood there, looking tired and a bit disheveled. She met Gabi's eyes with a mixture of hope and fear. "Can I come in?"

Gabi nodded and stepped aside to let her in. They sat down in the living room, the tension palpable.

"I owe you an explanation," Daya began, taking a deep breath. "I have a daughter, Gabi. Her name is Selena. She's three years old."

Gabi's eyes widened in shock. "A daughter? How come you never told me?"

"It's complicated," Daya said, her voice filled with pain. "Selena is from a previous relationship with my high school sweetheart, Isabella. We had a falling out shortly after Selena was born, and I haven't been a part of her life. Isabella recently reached out, wanting me to be involved again."

Gabi tried to process the information, her emotions swirling. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I was scared," Daya admitted. "I didn't know how you would react. And then Isabella's call came out of the blue, and I didn't want to burden you with it while you're pregnant. But I realize now that keeping it from you was a mistake."

Gabi took a deep breath, feeling the weight of Daya's words. "I wish you had trusted me with this, Daya. We're supposed to share everything."

"I know," Daya said, her eyes filled with remorse. "I'm so sorry, Gabi. I didn't want to hurt you. I love you so much, and I want us to face this together."

Gabi looked at Daya, seeing the sincerity in her eyes. She felt a surge of empathy and understanding. "I love you too, Daya. But we need to work on our communication. I can't be in the dark like this."

Daya nodded, her expression determined. "I promise, no more secrets. From now on, we face everything together."

Gabi reached out and took Daya's hand, feeling a sense of resolution. "Okay. Let's figure this out together."

---

In the following weeks, Gabi and Daya worked through the complexities of their situation. They met with Isabella, who was supportive and understanding. Gabi got to meet Selena, a bright and curious little girl who quickly won her heart.

Daniel continued to support Gabi, ensuring her pregnancy progressed smoothly. The addition of Selena to their lives brought new challenges and joys, but through it all, Gabi and Daya grew closer, their love stronger than ever.

As they prepared for the arrival of their twins, they embraced the changes and looked forward to the future. Despite the obstacles, they knew they could face anything together, united by love and trust.
