Chapter 5

-soap's Pov-

They left me...

The team I once called family left me here with a horde of infected. I was hidden in one of the bunkers hoping the infected won't find me.

I was running low on food and I have been rationing it to make it last as long as it could. I could hear the infected above me. Thank god for this underground bunker.

The bunker wasn't that interesting but it was the safest place at the moment. Why would they leave me behind? I curled up on the mattress I had found. I looked at the grey ceiling my mind wandering to different events I had been through in my life.

I woke up a few hours later, must have fallen asleep. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. Why did they leave me?

I looked at what was left of my food. A packet of crisps, two sausages, five sandwiches, ten bottles of water and a slice of cake. I sighed and grabbed the cake. As I ate I tried to make sense of my situation. How could they abandon me?

What did I do wrong? Was it an accident?

The bunker was quiet, I couldn't hear the infected anymore. They must have wandered to another part of the base.

I got up and walked to the hatch. I had decided to go see if I could find any more food. I snuck out with my bow and arrow in my hand, my pistol holstered to my thigh. I snuck past a runner that was standing in the command room, it sounded like it was crying.

Did the infected have their old self stuck inside a body they can't control?

I snuck outside and saw the base was starting to get overgrown with weeds. I snuck into the general store hoping to find something to eat. I searched the isles but there wasn't any food. Just great.

I left the store and snuck around a group of infected. I slid back into the bunker and locked the hatch behind me. I sat on the mattress and put my head in my hands.

I soon decided to go to sleep so I laid down and closed my eyes. I kept my pistol next to me as I slept just in case. I felt some tears fall from my eyes as I slowly fell asleep.
