On the third day, preparations for departure were nearly complete. Shan went to buy supplies from the market, while the master and Fhiorr searched for an animal to help carry their luggage. Shan strove to find the most nutritious foods at the best prices and sometimes managed to secure substantial discounts through skillful negotiations. After finishing his shopping, Shan headed home. But in the surrounding silence, he hears a loud roar, and his Divine Eye lights up under his scarf, glowing brightly.
On the way, between two houses, Shan spots a purple creature with huge horns holding a child in front of it, committing a heinous act. Shan rushes to help the child, but the creature flees with him into a dark area where Shan helplessly witnesses the moment the beast plunges its hand into the child's chest, looking on with satisfaction and a malicious grin. Shan is overwhelmed by memories of how he killed Akali in the same manner.
Lost in his own suffering, Shan tries to attack the creature, but it seems insubstantial, like malevolent purple smoke. The monster toys with Shan's mind, suggesting that his arrogance left Akali to die. Shan imagines Zed and Akali shedding bitter tears for their deaths. Shan then succumbs to the beast's illusions. The master and Fhiorr search for him desperately, as Shan is in grave danger.
Shan collapses to his knees, and the beast continues to toy with his mind. Shan takes one of his kunai and tries to end his own life. But the imaginary appearance of Karma-sensei restores his will and determination to fight against his past and the beast's manipulation. Shan pretends to attempt suicide, and when the beast approaches, he slashes its eye with a decisive gesture. The beast tries to capture him, but Shan manages to escape. He attempts to save the child, but it evaporates—it was merely an illusion made of purple smoke.
Shan runs as the beast chases after him. Fhiorr sees this and runs after him, reaching a field. With a roar of fury, the beast catches a rope around Shan and tries to strangle him. However, Fhiorr arrives at the last moment and thrusts his sword, "Light Beam," into the beast, forcing it to retreat, screaming. The monster once again transforms into smoke, enraged that it couldn't destroy its enemies. It attacks Fhiorr, wounding him gravely, and Shan can't bear to see this. Unknowingly, he activates a new ability of the Divine Eye. He stares fixedly at the beast and teleports to its location, freeing himself and trapping the beast in its own snare.
Shan is stunned by his new ability but cannot dwell on it, so he rushes to check on Fhiorr. The beast breaks free, flying towards them with claws outstretched, attempting to kill them. However, at the critical moment, the master appears and blocks the monster's attack with his sword, emitting a powerful beam of light. He recognizes the monster and says, "Long time no see, Maky. I hope you're not trying to kill my students?" The master looks intently at Maky, the horned monster, revealing a shared history. It turns out Maky was a demon once trained by the master, but he chose a different path and principles.
Maky and the master engage in an intense battle, hard to watch with ordinary eyes. They move with extreme speed, their abilities and spells clashing in an unimaginable fight. The two exchange rapid blows and sudden direction changes, trying to put each other at a disadvantage. Shan, using his Divine Eye, can see every move and ability they use.
The master shouts, "Nova Sword," and his sword glows, becoming more powerful. However, Maky does not relent and uses a spell called "Poisonous Smoke" that flows from his mouth. The master quickly responds, saying, "VatWu, shield me from the smoke!" and a large, black claw appears, acting as a shield to protect him from Maky's spell. With this claw's help, the master manages to send a powerful wave of light that defeats Maky.
The master then quickly runs to Fhiorr, who was injured during the fight. Shan approaches the two, still impressed by his newly discovered power but with a heavy heart from the memories he experienced. In this situation, the three return home and postpone their departure.
