“Where the hell have you been?” Stefan asked Natalia as she stepped into the house.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes, she looked rather pale. She was limping from the pain her own mate had caused her, and it felt like her heart was breaking from the emotional pain he caused her.

“Lia?” he asked, his face turning to one of concern. She looked too sickly for his liking.

“I–I” she couldn’t even get her sentence out before she broke into sobs again.

He immediately walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her. He put his head on her head, holding onto her tight. He didn’t know what was wrong with her but she seemed weak, tired, and sad.

“What happened, lia?” he asked her. She just sobbed harder, holding onto him tight.

Stefan sighed, and picked her up in bridal style. He sped out of the house, knowing that she needed to be with her mate. He brought her to the witch's house where everyone was to get ready for the sacrifice.

Once they were inside the house, he looked around for Elijah.

Elijah looked up from the map on the table, to see his crying mate in her brother's arms. Elijah sped over to her and practically shoved her into him. She seemed to relax slightly but kept sobbing.

“What the fuck happened?” Elijah asked Stefan in a threatening voice. Stefan shook his head, looking at his sister with concern.

“I waited at the house, and then when she came into the door she was like this. I didn’t know what to do,” he told him, his voice filled with panic. Elijah nodded.

Natalia leaned her head against Elijah’s chest, trying to calm down her crying. She couldn't stop crying. And it was all because of her other mate, and how he had treated her in the last five days he has been here in this town.

“Lijah,” she whispered. “I–I Klaus’s witch did something to me… I can’t feel anything. No magic, no vampire powers, no mate bond.”

“Oh baby.” Elijah felt his heart ache at her pain, and set her down on the couch so she could sit properly.

“Why does he keep hurting me?” she asked with a broken voice. Elijah wanted to give her an answer, it's just he didn’t have one.

“I’m so sorry,” he told her. He leaned over and placed his forehead against hers. “But I think you need to sleep. Don’t you?”

“Yeah,” she mumbled and leaned against the couch. She started to close her eyes in exhaustion. “D–don't leave me…”

“I won’t baby.”
