Braelyn Bennett is the current Head of the Bennett Coven and a woman who has never been particularly interested in making herself smaller for other people's comfort. Intelligent, ambitious, cunning, and incredibly stubborn, Braelyn possesses an almost irritating amount of confidence in her ability to find a solution when something goes wrong.
Usually, she does.
Braelyn is incredibly protective, but her protection rarely looks gentle. She prefers preparation over reassurance and has a habit of solving problems before the people around her realise there was one. She keeps contingency plans for her contingency plans, gathers information obsessively, and dislikes depending entirely upon anyone she cannot personally hold accountable.
She also has a vindictive streak.
Braelyn is perfectly capable of kindness and can be extraordinarily generous with people she cares about, but forgiveness does not come naturally to her. She remembers insults, betrayals and debts with uncomfortable accuracy. Her moral compass is intensely personal rather than traditionally heroic, and she has never believed she needs to extend the same mercy to everyone.
Braelyn is also unapologetically ambitious. She enjoys wealth, influence, beautiful things, political power, and magical knowledge, and sees absolutely no reason to pretend otherwise. She likes being underestimated only when she can use it against someone.
Her authority and reputation have earned her several titles, although the Bennett Witch Queen is perhaps the one that best captures how the supernatural world views her. The Empress, meanwhile, reflects Braelyn's natural tendency to build rather than merely inherit. Give her access to something useful, and she will inevitably begin considering how it can be improved, expanded, protected, or turned into an advantage.
Magic is no exception.
Braelyn possesses an enormous appetite for magical knowledge and refuses to restrict herself to a single school of witchcraft. She studies magic academically as much as practically, wanting to understand why something works rather than simply memorising the spell required to produce a result.
She practises numerous forms of magic and has very few objections to exploring darker disciplines. Braelyn's primary concern is not whether a branch of magic has a frightening reputation but whether she understands its cost and can control what she is doing.
