It was a March afternoon. A thunderstorm was brewing. Rain was pouring down the windows of Friday and Ian house leaving small glistening water droplets on the timber, and the wind was blowing so vigorously that the power had cut off. Leo and Astrid were curled up on the couch watching the storm. They had been coughing and spluttering all morning, so Friday had decided to keep them home from school.

"Dad!" Astrid called "Where's Mum."

Ian came into the lounge room carrying a tray of hot chocolates.

"she's at work, remember?" Ian exclaimed laying down the tray and taking a thermomotor out of Leo's mouth.

"38.6º" he mumbled shaking his head. He sat down next to the twins and pulled out a book; Matilda by Roald Dahl was currently the twins' favorite book. So, Ian decided to read them the last couple of chapters.

"What chapter are you up to?" He asked, opening it to a random page.

"Mum already finished it" Leo groaned.

"Without me" Ian gasped in mock distress. Leo nodded, grabbing the book and putting it back with the rest of the books.

"I'm bored" Astrid whined, tipping over the side couch, so all the blood would flow to her head "can you tell us a story."

Ian thought for a moment the asked "About Highcrest?"

Astrid nodded contently.

"Well, I could tell you about the missing lunch box and science project" he said.

"Oh, do tell it!" Astrid squirmed, leaning on Leo's shoulder.

"Yes please" Leo agreed, shoving her off instantly.

"Well, it all started in science..."
