Mr. Pattford was teaching the year eights. The class wasn't to engaged in the lesson, so he decided to make an announcement.
"On 28th of October we will have our annual science fair and I expect you all to have a submission" he said, a smile spread across his face.
The whole class groaned. As you can imagen rich kids don't get too enthusiastic about a science fair. Bedside's they knew they had no chance of winning when Friday and Ian were in the running. The only one who seemed the slightest bit excited was Charlie, Susan's cousin. She had only been there for a couple of weeks, and yet she had managed to show the class her extensive knowledge in science. Friday often had inquisitive conversations about the wonders of biology, physics, etc. etc..
Mr. Pattford saw the classes reluctance towards the mere thought of the fair, so he decided to make another announcement.
"The science fair will be 40% of your grade, and to make it easier for you I will assign you into groups of two" He said knowing perfectly well that this would grab their attention. Sure, enough the whole class turned their head in disgust. And behold the uproar of angry teens formed throughout the class room.
"With all do respect sir, what the actual fuck" Ivan grumbled.
"No way" Patel agreed.
"This is like so unfair" Trea cried.
"I did not come to class for this" Wai Yu sneered.
"How dare you" Colin said folding his arms.
"I...I don't, don't think I... can forgive you for this" Susan murmured sadly.
"It's official I don't like you" Harvey bellowed.
"That's it, I'm calling my lawyer" Mirabella threatened.
"You do that Mira" Ivan responded, rolling his eyes with so much sass it would scare you.
"Can you all shut up; I'm trying to sleep" Melanie yelled laying her head against the desk.
Mr. Pattford ignored the class but cut up paper into little strips and handed them round the classroom.
"I want you to write down your name on the strip of paper then fold it up and put it in ..." Mr. Pattford looked around the room for something to draw the names out off. That's when his eyes laid onto Friday's green porkpie hat. He snatched it of her head and continued "Friday's hat."
"Hey" Friday cried grabbing onto her head where her hat should have been.
"Can you burn it once your done with it" Ian laughed, only for it to turn into a cry of pain, because Friday elbowed him in the ribs.
The kids scribbled their names onto piece of paper, and chucked them into Friday's hat. It was now up to Mr. Pattford to select the pairs.
"Susan and...Colin" Mr Pattford said. The two shrugged (They both new it could be worse).
"Charlie... and Harvey."
"Yes" exclaimed Harvey, he knew that Charlie would end up doing most of the work.
"Friday... and Ian" Mr. Pattford chuckled "This will be interesting."
Friday and Ian rolled their eyes; avoiding eye contact with Melanie who was wiggling her eyebrows up and down.
"Wai Yu and Melanie."
The tow girls high fived each other satisfied with the pairing.
"Mirabella and Patel."
Mira looked horrified and as for Patel, he looked slightly depressed.
"Trea and Ivan."
The rest of the class burst into laughter.
Ivan instantly started shaking his head "NO!" he cried.
Trea burst into a flow of fake tears "I can't, not with him" she wailed
