Chapter VIII

“Then allow me to keep you company.”

You abruptly halted in your tracks as the sight of a green man appeared in front of you. Stepping back, you looked up at the much taller man, his back was faced towards you as he seemingly spoke to Seth.

That was when it clicked. It all felt familiar because this chapter was when Osiris was revealed.

“Osiris!” The sound of Isis screaming Osiris’ name rang through your ears as she jumped up from the seat she was on to hug him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she did so.

You were currently backing away from the scene, back to Ra. You could feel your face scrunch in what you think was either disgust or something you couldn’t comprehend. It was confirmed that this was Osiris. That Osiris.

The hatred you had for that man was immeasurable. He was disgusting even if you’ve never actually met him until now you still despised him. And the fact Isis still seemed to love him deeply to even scream out his name like that made you feel nauseous, she’s seen everything he had done to their own sibling but decides to just ignore it all. It was a chilling reminder of how horrible this family was and how he had such a strong mental grip on those in his surroundings.

Luckily, no one seemed to notice you or the expression you were making as you backed off. They all seemed to be surprised by his arrival, some of the gods even gasping at his sudden appearance. However you still felt a certain pair of piercing eyes on you but you just ignored it as you continued spectating from a distance.

That was when you started to see Seth visibly shake, this made you feel a pang of mixed guilt and pity. Even though he was horrible to you the few times you both were at peace with each other was somehow calming and peaceful, you knew what happened to him and it just made the mix of emotions worse. Hesitating for a moment, you decided to move back there and help him.

But that was when you heard him scream and suddenly you could see sand enveloping not only him but also Osiris and Isis who still had her arms wrapped around him.

And then, a loud ‘Boom’ noise sounded throughout the large room as sand and what looked to be smoke emerged.

That was when you felt an arm wrap around your shoulder. Flinching at the touch, you looked over to see that the arm actually belonged to Ra who was standing right next to you. She glanced over at you and gave a closed eye smile before turning back to the front as the smoke clouds started fading away.

Once the smoke dispersed, both you and Ra were in front of everyone, including Osiris and Isis, facing Seth who was on the ground seeming to have been either knocked or punched into the pillar behind him.

“We’re in the middle of your trial now, Seth.” Stating in a confident yet somewhat condescending tone while smiling, Ra had retracted her arm from your shoulder to cross under her chest as she looked down at Seth. “You should uphold your dignity as the supreme ruler of the gods until the trial is over.”

Standing next to Ra, you looked over at Seth and could see an irritated look in his eyes despite most of his face being covered. Attempting to somewhat calm him down, you tried giving him a reassuring smile but it only seemed to trigger him more when he saw you standing next to Ra.

While this was happening, you could feel a disgusting pair of eyes on you amidst the coughing of the others. The thought of him looking at you sent shivers down your spine, he and Ra also seemed to notice that but the feeling didn’t go away while you didn’t notice Ra smirking down at your trembling form beside her.

“It’s been a while, Osiris.” Hearing her speak up again, you looked up at her and could see that she was starting to talk to him now, “I thought you were dead.. I could not be happier to see you alive and well.” She was still facing Seth as she spoke. “Where have you been all this time? A lot has happened in Egypt since you were gone.”

Turning behind, Ra was now face to face with Osiris and Isis while you were still facing Seth. She didn’t seem to be focusing much of her attention on you anymore so you decided to go and help him up.

Quietly walking up to Seth, you extend your hand out to him for him to take while Ra and Osiris continued on with their conversation. Taking your hand, you could see a triggered expression on his face at the mention of his name from Osiris as he got up.

A downcast expression was on your face as you looked on at the situation and how it was going. You couldn’t blame Seth for hating Osiris nor could you blame everyone else for believing him, Osiris was smart as much as you hated to admit it he was. He was horribly and disgustingly smart.

It seemed like you were too busy in your thoughts as you didn’t notice what was happening until you felt something shake your shoulder causing you to snap out of your thoughts. It was from Seth but he didn't seem to be angry when you looked back at him.

By the time your attention was back at the situation you could see that Osiris was smiling. No one there, except you and Seth, seemed to notice the malice intent that was behind that smile.
