The sun loomed over the entirety of Egypt as the trial continued. Maat stood in front of the spectators as a large golden scale had been placed beside her, holding both a feather and a still beating heart.

“Osiris. Do you swear that there is nothing but the truth in all that you are about to disclose here?”

The gods present had all sat back down onto their seats as they continued spectating on the trial. Seated beside Ra was a [h/c] haired person, they looked to be in deep thought as they continued to watch on from the sidelines while Ra looked on in disinterest seeming to be bored by the current state it was going.

You looked at the scale that had been placed beside Maat, it looked to be that she was doing the ‘weighing of the heart’ trial. It was something that the deceased would have to do to pass through in the hall of Judgement where a person's heart would be weighed against Maat’s feather of truth. You had read about it a few times in mythology books but never thought you would actually be able to see it so it was truly a fascinating sight to you.

“I do. I swear on my heart.” As he spoke, the scale stood still in place, not moving as his heart continued to beat.

Hearing his voice continue to speak made you sick to the core. And with the added fact you would have to stay here and continue to watch him talk and have everyone else believing him just made it worse.

You could feel a frown start forming on your face. If only you could just punch him in the face till he was unrecognisable and be able to tell everyone what he had done. But you couldn’t, it would mess with the story even though your being was an anomaly itself, and you didn’t even have enough strength to be able to keep up with all the other gods. So how would you even be able to lay a single hit on him, who was unfortunately counted as the strongest amongst all of the gods. The thought irked you and caused you tightly gripped the arm rest of your seat.

Unbeknownst to you, Ra was glancing over at you while you were distracted by the current situation. Her golden eyes glowing much brighter in interest as she saw the facial expressions you made, a grin forming on her face as she saw how you didn’t notice that she was looking at you.

Since the day she first found you by the river of chaos, another being who birthed themselves from its waters, she found that you had piqued her interest. Even though it was funny that another being was born from its violent waves throughout all of the amusement and fascination, a strange feeling of infatuation had started growing. It was something she had never experienced before and before she could do anything about it, you went missing. Every time her sun rose into the skies she would look down onto the earth, searching for any signs of you but it never came into fruition. Not until a few days ago when she got to finally see you again.

Continuing to listen to what was happening in the trial, “ Just as she said, I was resurrected in the Nile river. I stand here as living proof of that.”

It wasn’t the line that he said but it was more so the facial expression he made that made you cringe.

So in order to stop cringing, you decided to just tune out the whole trial.

——

“I missed you.”

Walking down the quiet halls of the temple, your ears caught the sound of someone’s voice. It sounded similar to that of Osiris.

You decided to follow the voice to make sure nothing was going wrong, especially with Seth. Having had to witness him transform into the huge sand form of his was terrifying to say the least, despite it looking the same as in the manhwa it was still intimidating to be standing face to face with it. And you especially did not want to have to see it again.

Ra had decided to leave you at the temple for a while as she had some supposed matters to attend to so you decided to walk around and explore the place. You found it nice to be able to walk through a secluded place and not having to feel like you were being suffocated by everything there, it also brought about a calming sense in you that helped with your nerves from the earlier incident and the announcement of a competition for the throne.

That was when you walked in on the sight of both Osiris and Seth with the latter being held down to the ground by black coloured vines and the other taking off his Set mask.

The smile you had on your face earlier was replaced with a grimace at the sight but you knew you had to pretend like you did not know what they were doing, what Osiris was intending to do, the sins that he had committed and instead just play along. “Seth, is that you?” Making your presence known, you spoke up as you looked at the situation with a plastered expression of curiosity.
