Rodrick cackled. "You'll do what?"

Y/N grabbed his arm and yanked as forcefully as she could. He wouldn't budge. Rodrick was skinny but much heavier than he looked.

With a frustrated grunt, she tightened her grip. "Rodrick, I'm not playing. Move!"

He grabbed her wrists in turn, a mocking grin on his face. "Shhh... you'll wake the kid."

"Rodrick, let me go," Y/N said, calming herself just enough to keep her voice steady.

Y/N struggled in his hands. She wasn't afraid of him, just even more agitated. "Let go."

"I thought you were gonna drag me," Rodrick sneered. "Guess not."

Y/N was done messing around.

She snatched herself away from him and successfully captured a handful of his hair. "Fucking dumbass, move out of my goddamn way."

Rodrick sucked in a sharp breath and groaned, his head bowed and his body slanted at a 60-degree angle, his hands clasped around hers. "Ah—you win!"

"I thought you wanted to play around." Y/N tightened her grip and pulled him back, farther away from the door.

He clasped her wrist with both hands and unsuccessfully tried to wrench his hair free from her grasp.

At that moment, a faint creaking sound came from the stairs. Given that Rodrick's bedroom was positioned all the way downstairs in the basement, there should've been no one else present.

Both of them stopped in their tracks, Y/N let go.

"It's fucking Greg," Rodrick whispered, his eyes flicking to the bed, which still had the half-smoked blunt and an ashtray on it.

"How do you know?"

"I know my brother; he's nosy as fuck." Rodrick said, chucking the contraband into his sock drawer and tossing her a can of air freshener.

She sprayed a sensible amount around the perimeter of the room. "You know that Citrus Delight isn't going to mask the smell of anything?"

"Aren't you a little ray of sunshine," Rod said to himself, then he flicked on his overhead fan. "Open the door."

Y/N placed the Febreze on his bedside table and swung open the door. The mousey-brown haired boy fell forward, his ear, which had previously been pressed against the door, now met her chest.

"Greg?"
