The two briefly hold eye contact before Y/N breaks it. She clears her throat before speaking again. "You wanna make yourself useful and get the board games up outta the basement for me?"
Rodrick shakes the hair from his face and looks Y/N up and down. He considers his words before proceeding. "Sure, but you'll have to do something for me in return."
Y/N scoffs and attempts to move around him. "I'll just ask Greg instead."
"He's not available." Rodrick moved in front of her, causing her to screw up her face in confused irritation.
She looks over his shoulder. "I just saw him. What do you mean, 'He's not available'?"
Rodrick gently redirected her chin with his thumb and index finger, then tipped it up to face him, just to repeat the previous statement. "He's not available."
Y/N's face grew warm, and her body chilled from his sudden touch.
"Now, I'm gonna go and get those board games, but I expect you'll be upstairs in my room after dinner," Rodrick let his hand fall back to his side.
"And if I don't?" Y/N's face tingled where he had touched her.
Rodrick grinned and turned away to retrieve the games, leaving her to cater to Manny. "You will."
She exhaled and shook her head. "Shit."
"No bad!" Manny scolded, and she remembered who was in her arms again. The derealization seeped away, bringing her back to reality.
"Oh shoot, sorry little man," Y/N let him down.
