Author's Note - Document canonical world of Axetale with the entire developed Underground, characters, and major lore. This was all done by Bananafrappe and Mercy Monster, none of this is done by me.
Timeline:
In the Axetale AU, Frisk first started a Genocide route through the Underground, influenced by Chara's attempted possession, but aborted the run after killing Papyrus and commenced a Neutral run. Sans didn't trust her, after her murder of his brother, though, and watched her very closely throughout her journey, resulting in him being present to stop Flowey from taking the human souls, but was not able to keep him from killing Asgore. Frisk remained in the Underground, where Toriel emerged from the Ruins to rule the kingdom and enacted an effort to find a new way to break the barrier, and twelve years passed.
During that time, Sans and Frisk reconciled, were married, and Frisk got pregnant, the monsters grew closer and closer to finding a way to break the barrier without more murder, and Flowey grew too desperate to wait any longer. He snuck into the palace one night, killed Toriel and stole the human souls, and transformed into his Omega form, thereafter going on a rampage through the capital, killing many before escaping to hide in Waterfall. The imperfect magic, the souls' resistance, and Flowey's inability to control his new power ripped a tear in the fabric of spacetime, allowing the space between universes, termed the Void, to leak into the world and slowly poison all magical creatures. It brought to bear the sickness called the Hunger, which causes heightened aggression, paranoia, and insatiable hunger.
Sans, fearing Frisk would be targeted by both Flowey and the other monsters, took Toriel's soul and used it to eject Frisk from the Underground, sending her to seek out more souls to break the barrier and help them all escape. She was assaulted and violated while searching, however, landing her in a hospital, and when she tried to explain her mission to the doctors, she was deemed crazy and sent to an asylum, where she was administered drugs to keep her complacent. She was eventually freed by her mother, but was so weak and drug addled that she was incapable of taking care of herself or continuing her mission, and when she gave birth to the child she was carrying, she died shortly afterwards, all of her determination extinguished.
The child was named Aliza, a child of strange magic, and spent most of her childhood on the surface, aided by the mysterious red butterfly that she termed her familiar. It helped her compile all of Frisk's old notes, the soul canister she brought with her above, and Aliza finished her mother's mission, collecting all the souls she would need to free the monsters before venturing to Mt. Ebbot. The Underground was not as Frisk left it, however... it had deteriorated completely, in the sixteen years since she left, the Hunger running rampant through the once so hopeful monster kingdom. It had left most of the population devastated, only the cleverest and strongest yet living, and destroyed much of what the kingdom once was.
Aliza has her work cut out for her.
Places:
Ebott City- The human city that lies in the shadow of the mountain from which it gained its name, a rancid backwater overrun with crime.
• Grandma's house- Eloise Orsini's home, and the place where Aliza grew up. Falling to pieces through age and ill repair
• The Asylum- One of the last psychiatric asylums left in the country, and the place Frisk was held against her will. Frisk's mother sued them for malpractice, after the discovery of Frisk's pregnancy and the damage done by the drugs administered to her, and it was shut down because of the lawsuits.
• Mt. Ebbot- An ancient and inactive volcano, located in the midst of a forest. An iceberg covers one side, and at its feet lies a lake and a heavily used landfill. Long rumored to be cursed. The Autumn Refuge (The Ruins)- The first and oldest of the monster kingdom's sectors, and also the largest, The Refuge is made up mostly of ancient ruins left behind by monster forebears. The growth of most of the Underground's food supplies occurs here.
• The Flower Room/The Ancient Door- The original entrance to the Underground, long sealed up by monsters fearful of humanity trying to cull them for good, and crowned by the Deep Dive, the long tunnel leading down through the mountainside, through which both Frisk and Aliza fell to enter the Underground. The last resting place of the first human, and the haunting/hunting grounds of a nameless horror.
• The Sunken Kingdom- The first home of ancient monsterkind, long forgotten to history, and nearly sunken beneath still but rising waters. One of the only places where untainted magic still exists in the Underground.
• Ancient Ruins- Maintenance tunnels, walkways, and dried up aqueducts, left behind by the monsters that lived beneath the mountain long before the war. Hauntingly silent, and choked with both dust and enormous, thorny vines.
• Old Home- The ancient city monsterkind settled in, after their banishment beneath the mountain. Many monsters fled here, when the Hunger first began to spread, in the hope it would protect them. It didn't. Napstablook wanders the many streets and alleys here, picking off small game and woefully mourning the loss of all they had once known.
• Fallholm- The Refuge's capital, and the center of farming and agriculture in the Underground, spread out across many fields and pastures beyond the walls of the Ancient Ruins. Many plant and rock elementals once worked their magic here, to keep the soil fertile and high yielding. The fields lie barren now, consumed by ravenous monsters and time alike.
• The Bulwark/Market Square- The remains of an ancient human fortress, sunk deep within the mountain and long forgotten. Its hollowed out shell was once used as a trading hub across all sectors of the kingdom, but now houses only the few spiderfolk that haven't returned to Hotland or settled in Winterrest.
