Skull Rock

On the journey over I discovered that Eddie was hidden at skull rock. A place deep in the woods where teenagers would often sneak off to so they could... you know...hold hands and stuff. I twiddled my necklace between my finger and thumb as my mind wandered. At first I was thinking of Eddie's broken little eyes and imagining how they would look now that his fate had taken a turn for the worst. Then i thought about the burning sensation on my neck as he tucked my hair behind my ear. I imagined his hand wandering leaving burning heat in their trail. I shook my head dismissively. How unkind to think of a vulnerable friend in such a way. He was my friend. That was all. Nothing more to be said. 

We hiked through the trees and ferns directed by Steve Herrington. It seemed more like an aimless wander as Steve and Dustin argued over the way. Something about knowing the spot well and something about following a compass. I didn't care much for their immature debates, I just wanted to see Eddie. 

Max and Lucas were having a thoughtful discussion behind me. I was listening in to them. The theory being presented by the pair was that all those who Vecna targeted had something deeper was going on behind closed doors. The conversation in front of me was equally thrilling. Nancy and Robin were talking about Johnathan who I had come to understand was Nancy's Boyfriend. I couldn't understand why Harrington and Wheeler were avoiding their very evident spark  but I guess some things just take time. I've seen stranger things I guess.  

"Bada Bing Bada Boom" then it became apparent once Steve shouted, maybe the cringe was just too much for Nancy to handle. 

Skull rock very much matched it's description. It was a rock that looked like a Skull. Vaguely. Eddie interrupted the two bickering boy concurring with Steve that Dustin was a "butthead".   

I stood awkwardly, hands clasped together as Dustin and Eddie had their moment. Eddie looking over the shoulder he was hugging straight at me. I gave a little half smile feeling riddled with guilt at the thoughts I was having earlier. The group gathered around, throwing ideas around on how to best handle the situation. Eddie had settled next to me, listening intently. I unclasped my hands and let them hang by my side. I could feel the heat coming from the hand next to mine. Eddie's hand. Static filled the gap between our hands. The tingle burned into my wrist. His finger twitched to touch mine. "BOOM bada boom" I fliched at Dustin shouting snatching my hand away from Eddie's.  Another argument  broke out between Dustin and Steve about the compass when Dustin revealed the compass had been wrong. Magnetic fields are how a compass works, he suggested that their was another magnetic field near by causing the compass to be wrong. The group all glanced around at one another as Dustin finally explained that there must be a gate near. A gate to the upside down. A way to stop Vecna.
