The blue dragon was pacing in the chambers of the above water palace. She looked around her surroundings as guards walked by. The guards seemed uninterested in her, but she could she them glancing at her with looks of hatred.
Hah! If they think they can take me down, they'll have to think again, she thought fiercely. Then, she heard the conch shell trumpets sound as eight large soldiers surrounded a large, azure dragon. The dragon sent away her guards. She growled as the dragon approached.
"Well, hello there, prisoner," she said in a menacing voice. "I bet you're thinking about being free, but THAT'S not going to happen!" The Queen roared.
"It is. I'm going to find a way to escape and get rid of your cruel plans as Queen forever," the blue SeaWing growled.
"Oh, what a shame. My poor throne is going to be overtaken by this non-Royal dragon," the azure dragon said sarcastically.
"No! I'm not overtaking it, I'm going to—" she cut herself off so that the Queen couldn't know her plans. —save one of your daughters so that she can take the throne from you, she finished quietly to herself.
"Well either way, Emerald, that plan isn't going to work," the azure dragon hissed. Emerald shrank back a bit, but then fought herself back.
"I'm bigger and older than you, Azure. You know that," Emerald growled.
"Oh yeah? Well, I have a whole army and Kingdom. How are you going to beat that?" Queen Azure threatened.
Emerald started to laugh as tears swelled up. "I remember when you were only a small dragonet. I could've never seen you become Queen of all dragons. You were so shy and quiet back then. But ever since you defeated your mother, you've been a lot different lately. What changed you?" she asked.
If she tells me whatever had happened to her original nature, perhaps I can find her weakness.
"You're wasting my time," Azure growled. "I came here to tell you one thing. A few weeks ago, I started sending out guard patrols to find your dragonet to bring her back and kill her in front of your own eyes." The azure dragon started laughing manically. "Oh, it's going to be so worth it to see the look on your face."
"You can't!" Emerald snapped angrily, clawing at the bars of the dungeon.
"Oh, but I can. Now if you excuse me, I have a kingdom to work on," Azure said. "I'll see you again tomorrow." She walked away from the dungeons, her guards coming back to her side.
"NO! COME BACK HERE YOU, EVIL LITTLE—!" Emerald was cut off by some growling by a nearby prisoner.
"I wonder why she puts you in above-water prison instead of the underwater dungeon," a prisoner commented nearby. Emerald didn't answer. Only she and Azure knew why.
She's trying to drive me insane for no water since these four years. But I won't. I'll always find a way to get water on me, Emerald thought.
But deep inside, Emerald was crying. She wanted the old Azure back and to see Nightroar again. Four or five years ago, Emerald and Nightroar were running from SeaWings and NightWings. Emerald had dived down to save their egg, but had to abandon Nightroar. She didn't know if he was still alive or her dragonet.
She had hidden her egg in a bush, hoping that was enough hiding. But a SeaWing soldier named, Seaweed had caught up to her and captured her. Emerald longed for freedom and safety of her loved ones.
The blue dragon walked away the jail's bars. She went as far as she could to the wall and looked back through the cell.
Maybe I can break out one day, or maybe someone could break me out. But who? Nightroar? Is he still even alive?
Emerald laid down as she was drowned out by her thoughts and fell into darkness.
