Ash doesn't know anyone in the story other than Gary.

*In Lumiose high 7:30 AM

"Boys, gather around! I've got some big news I think you will all find surprising," The brown haired researcher told. They all huddled around like they usually did when something exciting was going down.

"What is it? What's the big damn deal?" A purple haired trainer asked. His name is Paul.

"According to my gramps we're getting a new student today," He said with a smug smile.

"New Student? That is kind of surprising. We haven't had one since last year I think," Drew said jumping into the conversation. He's a green haired coordinator who claims to be a ladies man.

"I think I might know him too," Gary added. "Gramps did mention he was a trainer from Kanto."

"Oh, well at least something positive does come out of all this. More competition for me," Paul stated confidently. The others sweat dropped at his response.

"Is that all you think about? Battling? "Gary asked.

"Yeah. Got a problem with it?!" Paul asked, shooting Gary with an unnerving look.

"N-No Paul Relax!" He responded, chuckling nervously in the process.

Just then the School 'Queens' walked by. The 'Queens' Consisted of Misty, May, Dawn, Iris, And Serena. The reason they were called queens was because of their popularity in the school. Though they were only in their first year of high school they were already amongst the most popular kids in school.

"Oh, well hello there ladies," Gary called out in a flirtatious manner. The others stayed back not wanting anything to do with this.

"Ugh, what do you want Gary?!" Misty shouted at him.

"Ah, still playing hard to get I see," He teased. Misty didn't take this too well and swung her foot right into his shin. Gary let out a cry of pain as he held onto his shin painfully.

"Let's go girls," Misty said. The girls nodded and followed Misty as they looked at Gary in disgust on the floor.

"You really should have seen that coming dude," Drew said picking him up.

*Now with the new kid

He sat in the bus as he waited for it to arrive in front of the school. Professor Oak spoke highly of the place and suggested he attended. Ash agreed only after Professor Oak offered to pay for his plane ticket just two or three days ago.

"This place better be as good as that old man made it sound. I'm going to be so pissed if it's not," Ash said to his partner and best friend Pikachu.

"Pika-Chu!" the little mouse Pokémon nodded its head in agreement.

Few minutes later the bus finally arrived in front of the school. Upon exiting the bus they got a good view of how big the school actually was.

"Pika!" Pikachu squealed in excitement.

"Looks might be deceiving bud. Don't get too excited just yet," Ash said calmly. He made his way inside through the crowded hallways and managed to find the Principals office with ease. He entered.

"Yes? Can I help you young man?" The man questioned. He was a very tall man with a black suit and Red hair.

"I'm here to pick up my schedule because I'm new. Ketchum, Professor Oak sent me," He spoke nonchalantly. He nodded and handed him his schedule with his classes and room numbers.

"I'm Principle Lysandre, an honor to meet you young man. Professor Oak said a great deal about you," Lysandre said sitting back down.

"I'm going to find my first class. We'll talk later Lysandre," Ash said rushing out of the office. Lysandre nodded.

"I'm sure we will," He mumbled. Ash exited his office and began walking towards his first class which was with Professor Sycamore. He heard the bell ring in the process which meant he was late but he couldn't care or less. Eventually he found the correct class and room number. He went inside.

"Oh there you are!" Professor Sycamore said. "I was starting to think you weren't going to show up." Ash didn't respond. He stood there and gave Sycamore a frightening look. He sweat dropped.

"Would you mind at least introducing yourself?" Sycamore pleaded. Ash gave an annoyed grunt.

"It's Ash, I'm from Pallet town," He stated bluntly. Everyone looked at him curiously. Serena in particular, one of the queens lifted her head up when she heard 'Pallet town.' This kid being from the same place her childhood friend was from peeked her interest.

"Ashy-Boy! It is you after all!" An all too familiar voice shouted. Ash sighed desperately.

'This day just keeps getting better'

Gary Oak ran up to him and put his arm around his shoulder. Ash quickly shook him off.

"Get off," He said pushing him off.

"Ash, Gary, please take your seats we need to get going," Sycamore interrupted.

This was gonna be a long first day for Ketchum.

Time skip

Lunch time.

Ash severely underestimated how big the school actually was. There was no open tables and he didn't feel like sitting with anyone.

"Ash! Come over here dude!"

Ash didn't even turn. He knew it was Gary. Having no other choice he reluctantly sat with him and his huge group of friends. There was a lot.

"I knew you'd sit with your old pal Gary," He smiled smugly.

"I have no choice you twit," He replied harshly. "What the heck is this? Your fan club?"

"Fan club? Seriously?" Misty said in disbelief.

Paul on the other hand smiled. He was already starting to like this new kid despite him having a reputation of being a bully.

"No these are my friends Ash. You can talk with them later but for now let's catch up. What have you been up to these days?" He asked curiously.

"It's none of your business, nerd," Ash insulted.

Paul chuckled. "So new kid, Gary here says you're a strong battler. Is that right?" The purpled haired trainer inquired.

"Yeah. So what?" Ash replied.

"Wanna battle," Paul smirked. Ash looked at him. He didn't look worth battling but Ash wouldn't know that without battling him. That was something that never changed about him.

"Fine. Are you okay with a 1 on 1 for now? Cuz I only have my Pikachu with me right now," Ash said.

"Sure that's fine. Meet me around back after school. There's a battle field there," Paul told.

"Sure, whatever," He responded. Upon accepting his battle challenge everyone at the table looked dumbfounded. Finally lunch was over and everyone began going their separate ways.

"Umm, Ash?" A blue haired girl called.

"What?"

"Do you know who he is?" She questioned.

"Of course not. And I don't know who you are either," Ash replied.

"I'm Dawn, a friend of Gary's. But Ash, Paul is one of the strongest trainers in our school. Are you sure about battling him?" Dawn asked worriedly.

"Easy," Ash responded confidently. "I'll put him to rest quickly you'll see." He walked away not saying anything else. At least he knew what Paul was capable of now.
