As the last class of the day was coming to an end Paul was thinking thoroughly on how he would take down Ash's Pikachu. Even though he was new he couldn't underestimate him.
"So Paul," Trip began. "Do you have a strategy in mind for your battle against the new kid?"
"Not really. Guess I'll just try and overwhelm him during our battle," Paul replied coolly.
"You sure that's going to work. That guy doesn't look like the type to take battles lightly. I don't know what it is about him..." Trip remarked.
"It's fine," Paul replied. "There's no way I could possible lose to him. Let's get going!"
The Battle!
Trip and Paul began heading to the back of the school where they were presumably going to battle. They walked for a few minutes until they got to the battlefield where Ash was already waiting as was their friend group. Paul walked over to Ash.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, newbie. What do you say we get started," Paul grinned.
Ash raised an eyebrow at his stupid comment. "Sure," He responded nonchalantly. Ash made his way to the other side of the Field.
"Okay, Pikachu get in there," Ash ordered. Pikachu hopped off his shoulder and got onto the battlefield. The rest of the group looked on interested to see who would come out victorious. Paul, one of the greatest battlers in school versus an experienced looking new kid.
"So, Who do you guys have winning this one guys?" Misty asked no one in particular.
"I know Ashy-Boy is definitely experienced in battling... but I don't know if he'll be able to defeat Paul or not," Gary said.
"For me, it's got to be Paul. There's no possible way he will lose to that new kid Ash!" Barry stated energetically. They continued hyping the battle up and predicting who would win. Meanwhile the Honey Blonde haired girl, Serena was gazing at Ash as he got ready to face Paul in battle. She believed Ash could win based on the determination expressed on his face.
"I'll act as referee-
"There's no need! It's a 1 on 1 first Pokémon to be unable to battle loses," Ash said, cutting Gary off in the process. Gary sat back down.
"Electivire, stand by for Battle!" Paul released his Pokeball which contained his Electivire.
"Okay, looks like we can only use Iron tail and quick attack bud," Ash whispered. Pikachu turned back and nodded, determined to win this battle.
"Quick attack!" Ash shouted. Pikachu impressively dashed full speed towards Electivire giving Paul no time to react. He dealt a hard blow to Electivire.
"Hmm... fast," Paul muttered.
"Wow, his Pikachu sure is fast," Barry said.
"Electivire, use Brick Break!" He ordered. Electivire tried getting close but Pikachu was too quick. No matter how many times he swung Pikachu always dodged. Electivire was beginning tp grow tired already. This was their chance.
"Now use Iron tail!" Ash shouted. Pikachu used its tail to whack Electivire right in the face knocking him backwards a bit. Electivire was definitely feeling the blow of that quick attack and now Iron tail.
"Now use volt tackle!" Pikachu once again dashed towards Electivire with impressive speed with some Electric power this time.
"What are you thinking Ash? Electivire's speed will be raised," Gary said to himself.
"Now use quick attack!" The combination of quick attack and Volt tackle made Pikachu almost invisible. He collided with Electivire and it seemed as though the battle was already decided based on the smug look Ash had on his face. A huge cloud of dust surrounded the Battle field as they anxiously looked to see if Electivire was down.
"Electivire is Unable to battle, Pikachu wins!" Gary called out. Everyone could hardly believe it. Not only had Paul lost, but it was one of the quickest battles they had ever seen. Paul was dumbfounded. They had only started the battle minutes ago and it was already over.
"Wha- How did you do that?!" Paul asked as he was in complete shock.
"It's a common trick. If you don't give the opponent any time to react it usually works" He replied coolly.
"Wow. You know, with the way you battle I'm sure you would be able to defeat Tobias," Trip jumped in.
"Who the hell is that?" He questioned.
"I'm sure you'll find out sooner or later," Paul spoke "I'm not usually like this after a battle, but you totally kicked my ass today." Paul offered a handshake. Ash looked and gave it to him. He shook his hand and with that he began leaving.
"Wait, where you off to?" Gary shouted.
"I'm going to find the nearest gym," He replied.
"Ah, same old Ash. The Lumiose gym is closed right now," Gary told.
"Ah damn it!"
The Honey blonde decided to speak up while she could. "There is a gym in Santalune City. You can go there if you'd like," Serena spoke softly. She was the only one in the group who was native to Kalos after all.
Ash nodded gratefully and left the field. Now the attention was all on Paul.
"Wow, Paul, what happened out there?" Barry asked sarcastically.
"Shut up Barry. You would have lost in a matter of seconds! I don't want to hear it from you," Paul fired back.
Serena gazed in the direction that Ash left in. She was certain this new boy wasn't any ordinary new kid. Something seemed off about the way he battled and interacted with them. She was determined to find out who he really was.
