As he exited the bathroom after washing his hands he ran into a tall man who looked down to him and smiled. It was Meyer, Clemont's father. Ash was not familiar with him or Clemont.
"Hey kid," He said with a friendly smile.
"Hello sir," He replied, with a rather polite tone in his voice now. "Can I help you with something?"
"I couldn't help but notice how familiar you look... what was your name again young man?" Meyer asked.
He raised a brow. "It's Ash. Ash Ketchum," he replied. Meyer once again widened his eyes slightly at his name. Somehow that name brought him distant memories of disaster...
"Ketchum... do you have a broth-"
"Ash! Hurry up, man! You're missing out on the best part!" Gary barked. Ash turned and noticed Gary standing there with an annoyed look. He excused himself from Meyer and walked away with Gary.
'Why the hell was he about to ask if I have a brother?' Ash thought to himself.
He dropped it for now but he was still curious as to why someone random would ask him that. They walked back to Gary's room where everyone else was waiting. Paul also came back but he still wasn't in the mood to play their silly little games.
"Here's the deal Ash. You name me all the badges you won in the last region you traveled, and you don't have to participate in our little game," Gary stated with a smug smile plastered on his face.
"Oh that's easy... let's see Unova... Trio Badge, Basic badge, Insect Badge, Bolt Badge, Quake Badge, Jet Badge, Freeze Badge, And the Toxic Badge," Ash said. Gary looked dumbfounded. He should have thought of something better for a guy who battles for a living.
"You're an idiot Gary," Ash fired back. "I'm gone." Ash left Gary's room. They continued playing their little game before a short while later Serena left the room also in search for Ash. After searching for him he spotted him next to the purple haired trainer Paul. They seemed to be in a deep conversation about something. She leaned on a nearby wall eavesdropping on them.
"I don't even mean to be all angry or upset like this you know...? Gary is my oldest and closest friend... but sometimes I regret hanging out with the guy," Ash explained. Paul nodded his head in acknowledgment.
"Yeah, I completely get you dude. Some of the things he does and says are questionable. End of the day, that's just who he is," Paul said. Serena was intrigued by their conversation and decided to keep listening, feeling a bit of remorse for doing this sneakily. Eventually she decided not to risk being caught by the two boys and heads back upstairs. It seemed as though there was something painful Ash was hiding about himself that disturbed him greatly.
The party was just beginning to reach the end as most of the guests had already left and eventually the only people left were Gary, Ash, Paul, Dawn, Barry and Serena.
"Alright guys, it's getting pretty late now. What do you guys want to do now?" Gary asked.
"I think I'll bail now," Paul shrugged. "Last time I go to one of your parties, Oak."
"Yeah," Ash nodded. "That shit was pretty boring dude."
Gary just rolled his eyes at both of him. "What about you, Ash? You leaving too? If you want to stay over for the night you can sleep on the couch downstairs," He offered.
"Ohh you're so generous Gary. Sure, I'll sleep over," He responded sarcastically. With that settled Dawn, Serena, And Paul left. Ash and Barry both got spots on different couches.
"Just saying that Party was pretty terrible," Barry spoke.
"I know. I don't know what the point of it was really... but we should get some rest now Barry," Ash replied.
"Yeah, you're Right. Night dude," Barry Said.
Hours later
As Barry was on the couch snoozing away it was now past midnight. Only people in the Oak's resident was Professor Oak, Gary, Barry, And Ash... however Ash was no longer sleeping. Instead he was hovering over Barry watching him sleep cautiously.
It was very dark in the room only Ash's glowing red eyes were visible in the darkness. Though it didn't seem like this was Ash... rather a malevolent version of Ash stood over Barry now just watching him intensely.
"No one will expect it... I will make my return one day... and when I do, no one will be prepared for it. Everyone will suffer... including you..." Ash muttered very quietly while looking down at Barry still sleeping. Oblivious to the fact that he was being watched by a presumed psycho.
To be continued...
To be honest the point of the party wasn't even the party itself, but that last bit.
