I woke up at 5 that morning to train. I left behind most things at Silvers but I guess my sleep schedule is stuck with me. I walked to the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror. The same view for the past 2 years. So I did what anyone else would do. I ran to the closest shop and grabbed some hair dye and some new clothes, to my surprises shops open early in ninjago at around 6am. I needed a new look. Kai said red was his thing anyway.
I used lemon juice to bleach my highlights and covered those strands in purple dye. I washed it out, did some makeup and put together whatever clothes I could. I had baggy jeans on, probably not the best for fighting but apart from that all I had was a skirt, a purple jumper I rolled up at the sleeves and some black converse. I looked back into the mirror. It felt like if I could change how I looked I could change who I was, get rid of the bad in me, the villain. Maybe then people would trust me.
After staring at myself in confusion for at least 10 minutes it was 7:30 I walked out to find the ninja training. I guess I wasn't the only one who had to start their mornings early. Zane had made breakfast, it looked delicious, I'd eaten cereal for the past 2 years and had practically forgotten what good food tasted like it. I stared at it for a good minute trying to figure out if this is real or one of Spideys tricks.
"Do you not want to eat it? I can cook something else if you'd like?" The nindroid asked. Kai and Lloyd wouldn't stop scowling at me, Jay was smiling and Cole was digging into his food like always. Fattie. I didn't want them to think I was stupid so I looked up and responded,
"No it looks delicious. Thank you, so much." I replied, I scarped my food around the plate fearful I was gonna wake up.
"Are you sure? You don't look like you like it?" Jay commented. I looked up at him, he looked at me though his look was more concern mine was confusion.
"Yeah sorry, I hadn't eaten food like this like 2 years, I've had cereal almost everyday." Everyone seemed to look at me in perplexion "just because I committed a few crimes didn't mean I lived in luxury, I mean compared to where I was this place is heavenly."
"A few?! You broke almost every law in ninjago! You're lucky to even be here and not rotting in a prison cell." Kai shouted, Cole looked at me with sympathy and Master Wu gave him a 'remember what I said' look.
"Thanks for the reminder..." I looked down sad and disappointed but before they could say anything I looked back up "that you didn't catch me a single time." I laughed, starting to eat my breakfast, it tasted amazing.
"Yeah we did, how else would you be here?" He said.
"I walked... floated onto your ship, it was my choice." I argued.
"Well! That counts!" The fire ninja shouted.
"Uh no it doesn't!" I shouted back.
"Wait I swear you where dark red before." Jay said from next to me
"Oh yeah I decided I didn't want to have any association to Kai, and I needed a change." I said, glad he noticed, he was sweet. I heard Kai mutter a few insults under his breath but I didn't have the energy to reply so sat in silence eating my breakfast nodding every few moments as Jay told me about trains.
It was around 8:30 and we where all boarding the destiny's bounty. Jay and Cole where talking Lloyd and Kai and Pixal was talking to Zane so I was stood alone at the edge of the ship. Since we where so far up in the air my powers where stronger.
"Ugh why won't this thing go faster." I heard a voice say clearly fed up. I turned around to see a girl I believe to be Nya. I walked over to her watching her push buttons and pull levers.
"I'm Charlie, you're Nya right?" I said, I was very good at making new friends but I wasn't gonna survive any other way here. She did t answer. "Would you like some help I can -"
"I have no reason to trust you, how do I know you aren't up to something." She said, her voice was harsh, but it had every reason to be. I apologised and walked away, towards the highest point on the ship. I sat down and focused my mind on the winds around me. I felt my body get heavier as I lifted the speed of each breeze and as the bounty began to quicken I relaxed.
Once I'd walked back around to the main deck everyone was you, watching the view.
"My ones and zeros simply can not comprehend this moment it is extraordinary." Zane said.
"This is so super cool and awesome!" Jay shouted, I laughed at his excitement.
"This is more than super cool it's breathtaking ." I muttered, standing next to Jay.
"Beats doing Chores at the monestary." Cole said, I laughed allot with Nya, but a loud screech made me stop.
"I must warn you, there is believed to be a species called 'dire bats' that live in amongst the mountains around Shintaro, it's been a topic amongst historians for decades." Zane said but it was too late. I watched as Jay got swept up in the claws of one of these 'monsters' though I wasn't one to say such things. The bats grabbed onto our sails, biting and ripping holes in them, taking them down , and us.
"Charlie! Use your elemental powers!" Cole shouted at me before leaping onto one of the 'dire bats' . I focused on the bounty and the direction of the wind trying my best to keep it not only upright but sailing. As much as I tried to focus more and more things continued to fall towards me and I could hear Cole and Jay screaming.
I grabbed a thing of rope and tied one end to a pole and the other round my waist. I looked round me and begun to float, letting the wind take me up. At times I couldn't control it, hence the rope and I'd end up floating into space and further. there was times I had to wear weighted shoes to keep me from flying away. I kept going, clouds forming around me until I was close enough to grab Jays and Coles hands.
"Grab on, focus and do not freak out or we'll fall to our deaths!" I shouted closing my eyes and letting their weight balance out. Before I could even notice we had landed back on the bounty. I fell onto both my knees, feeling weaker every breath I took. I felt my weight drop sideways, my vision tunnelling. I heard Cole shout my name and Kai scoff before I let my exhaustion get the best of me.
She definitely didn't pass out because I'm too lazy that would be crazy. 🤷♀️
