I close the window again and pick up Nick. He’s wide awake and reaching to pull at my hair. “No no,” I say laughing. “Don’t pull mommy’s hair, silly boy.” I say and carry him downstairs. I feed him and burp him then take him out to the car and strap him into his car seat in the back. “We’re gonna go visit Grammy and Grammpy!” I say to him and he claps his little hands and laughs. I go back to the house and make sure the door is locked. Then get into the car myself and buckle up. Driving out of the drive way. As we go about a mile down the road I look over to where Alex’s house is and notice there’s nothing there. It doesn’t even look like the lot was touched! There was no indication that there was ever a house there at all! I shake my head and continue to go to my parents house.
We finally get there after about an hour or two. They’ve let Bosco out side and he comes running up to my open door and jumps up on me licking my face. “Down Bosco! Down boy!” I laugh and he runs back to mom. “Ma he’s gettin’ bigger and bigger everyday!” I say laughing as the Great Dane bounds this way and that. “Well he’s a big dog Dani,” Dad replies. “He’s supposed to get bigger.” I laugh and get Nick out of the car. Bosco bounds towards me and Nick. He slows down realizing there is a little one in the carrier. I lower it down so Bosco can get a good look at Nick. He looks at him and cocks his head slightly to the left, then to the right. Then gives Nick a doggy smile and Nick laughs. Nick reaches his hands up to pat Bosco and he lets him. “I can tell he’ll be gentle with little Nick here,” I say smiling at the dog that was with me through my childhood. “Of course!” Mom says smiling. “My little Bosco would never hurt a fly.” She comes over and scratches behind his ears. “Come on, let’s go inside before little Nicky catches a chill.”
Once inside the house Nick is crawling around on the living room floor with Bosco chasing him and keeping a good watch on him. Mom, dad and I are all sitting in the living room as well. “So you know that house I was telling you about ma?” I ask her holding my cup of coffee in both hands. “The one with that strange little boy?” She asks me. “Yeah, well, I was driving by the lot to get here and I noticed that there wasn’t a house even there! It didn’t even look like the lot was touched!” I exclaim with one hand raised. “That is very odd indeed,” my mother replies. “Could you have been seeing things?” Dad asks. “Dad I wasn’t seeing things, I didn’t imagine that little kid coming into my house and looking at all my stuff and going to every room and asking me if Nick was my baby. I didn’t imagine him getting into my car and driving him to his house, that seems to disappear and reappear, and I didn’t imagine the door slamming shut when he was upstairs and the was no one else in the house!” I exclaim again wanting to throw my coffee in the air.
“Other weird things have been happening too. Nick’s window opens on it’s own. I nailed it shut last night and this morning it was wide open! The first time the window was open and I went to go close it is when I found Alex standing in my kitchen.” I say taking a sip of my coffee. “Just never you mind about any of that Danielle,” mom told me. “It’s nothing to worry your head about, but I suggest you get security cameras installed.” She said taking a sip of her own coffee. “Mom!” I exclaim, “That’s a little over the top don’t you think?” I ask looking at her wide eyed.
