“I’m just looking out for the better interest of my only grandson.” She said holding up a hand in defense. I roll my eyes and look at my watch. “It’s getting late,” I say picking up Nick and putting him in his carrier. “We should be getting home.” My parents smile and walk with me out to the car, Bosco bounding along. “Thanks for letting us visit guys,” I say hugging both of my parents. “Anytime,” dad says smiling. I give Bosco a hug too and he licks my face. “See you some other time buddy!” I say scratching behind his ears. Finally I get in the car and drive back home.
As I’m driving home I look over to the empty lot again. Only this time, it’s not empty, but the old shack isn’t there either. A huge mansion is now in the place of the used to be empty lot. “That’s impossible,” I say to myself. I park the car beside the road and walk down the driveway up to the enormous house. It looks completely abandoned. I look through the windows and see a bunch of old furniture covered with white sheets. Old paintings are hanging everywhere and a huge chandelier is in the middle of the ceiling. I look closer and try to see into one of the other rooms. *Slam!* A hand comes down hard on the glass window leaving a hand print and I jump backwards. There’s no one even in the house yet something hit the window. The floor boards on the deck start to creak and one of my legs fall through. I scream as I feel something grab my leg. I kick at whatever it is and get my leg free. It reaches up and tries to grab me again but I am already running back to the car. My head is pounding and my heart is racing. I jump into the car not even bothering to put on my seat belt and floor it back to my house. I stop in my driveway and sit there in the car. “What was that thing?” I wonder aloud.
After my wondering I take Nick out of his car seat and carry him to the front door. I hold him in one arm as I dig around in my pocket with my other hand to find my key. After several minutes of digging I finally find my key. I unlock the door and once inside my mouth drops open. The house is completely trashed! Broken glass and splintered wood is all over the floor. Books and papers were strewn all over the floor. Several holes were in the wall and pots and pans were everywhere in the kitchen. All the other rooms were equally a mess as well. Nick’s room however was left untouched. Other than the usual open window and his bed was now placed closer to the window. “Maybe now would be a good time to get that alarm mom was talking about.” I say to myself.

Not even an hour after I called the security place were they knocking on my front door. I invited them in and they looked through the whole house. I took them trough the whole house explaining this and that and everything. “-And in here,” I opened the door. “In my baby’s bedroom, the window is once again open and his bed,” I walked over to where his bed now was and pointed to where it should be. “Is now over here, when it should be over there.” I explain and they write everything down. “His window just seems to open all by itself. Nobody touches it at all. I even nailed it down the other night and the next morning it was open and the nails were ripped from the wood.” I explain showing them the loosely hanging nails. One of them nods then speaks in a gruff tone,
