“Well ma’am, it seems as though you might have been robbed.” He says looking the room over once again. “But that doesn’t explain why the window keeps opening or why my baby’s crib was moved. Plus nothing was stolen. Everything is still here, it’s just thrown all over the place.” I counter. He kind of glares at me slightly and moves on. “Well, we’ll set up some cameras in the place. One in two corners of each room unless more are needed. We’ll hook it up to you’re computer and you can look at the recorded video whenever you want. The cameras will always be recording at all times. One will be placed outside the hallway of the bathrooms. That way you still have your privacy.”

He explained how everything would work and I had one question. “How soon can you install it?” He looked at his clipboard and back at me. “Well we’ve got the tools and equipment here with us. We could install it right now.” He told me with a glance at his partner. “That’d be great,” I say hurriedly.

In no time at all the cameras were up and running and I could see everything that was happening in every room on my lap top. “This is great,” I say with a smile. “Thank you so much.” I pay them and they leave. I carefully place Nick in his crib and walk downstairs. I call up mom and dad and tell the about the security system. “That’s great sweetie, it’ll really help, I’m sure.” Mom said into the phone on the other end. “I hope so,” I sigh and look at the clock. Half past noon. I’m almost late for work. “I’ve gotta go ma, can I drop Nicky off at your place until I get out of work?” I ask grabbing my purse keys and Nick. “Of course, bring him right over.” I could hear the smile in my mother’s voice and smiled as well. “Great we’ll be right over!” I hang up and go out to the car, locking up the house of course, and strap Nick into his car seat.

As I’m driving to my parent’s house I look over at the lot again. Instead of the mansion being there, it’s a small house and a child’s play set. Sitting on one of the swings, swinging slowly and lowly, was none other than Alex. He stopped and stared at me as I was slowly driving by. The door to his house opened but nobody was standing there. He looked at the door and slowly ambled inside. As I’m driving away, the swing starts swing again at an easy pace. I try to ignore it. Not knowing if it was really moving or just my imagination, I drive on.

Three hours and a mountain of paperwork later, I’m back at my parents house picking up Nick to take him home. Once we get back to the house I unlock the door and take a sleeping Nick up to his room and lay him down in his crib. The window is once again open and I sigh and shut it once more. Making sure Nick was asleep, I grabbed my laptop and went downstairs. Flopping down on the couch. I opened up the camera recordings and looked at every single one going through the house. Not a single thing out of the ordinary. Finally when I came to look at the video recording in Nick’s room I stopped.
