Thalia

Thalia had caught three squirrels as she walked up the forest grounds. She was following a stream upwards onto a slight hill. Percy, Katniss, and Peeta had gone in the opposite direction-down the stream.

Though she spotted fishes in the stream, swimming against the current, she didn't attempt to catch them. Percy would have been thoroughly offended if she'd killed some of his fish friends. So instead, she captured squirrels, shooting them out of the trees with her bow.

She estimated that about half an hour had gone by, and decided to return back to the meeting place with Nico and wait for the others. After all, she didn't need to worry about being late. Nico could just shadowtravel them back. It was handy to have the son of Hades around, as he could be her free transportation ride.

"Thalia!" Nico shouted in alarm from behind. "Something's wrong! We have to go back now!"

Thalia spun around, and saw Nico pressing two fingers to his temple, as though he was using some sort of telepathy. He looked worried.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"I can sense death. Like someone in this arena is seriously injured and going to die any minute now. Whoever that is, he is nearby. We have to check that the others are okay." Nico said hurriedly.

Shadows were pulled around Nico, surrounding him. Nico extended a hand to her, signaling that they were going to shadowtravel.

Quickly, Thalia took it, wondering what could possibly go wrong. She definitely wouldn't admit it in front of Percy, but she knew he was powerful. He'd taken down armies from Kronos's troops, and fought gods and goddesses alike. So a couple of mortals who didn't even know he was a demigod, would be a piece of cake for Percy.

But she also knew from experience, that Nico was never wrong when he said he could sense death nearby. Even before someone died, he could feel their soul slipping away. The only people nearby could only be Katniss, Peeta, or Percy.

Darkness engulfed her, and they were speeding through the shadows, so fast that she felt her face peeling off.

That left only one reason. Percy's stupid fatal flaw. Athena had once warned him that his fatal flaw of loyalty could possibly be his downfall. He would die for anyone, whether they were his friends or not.

A loud blast of cannon was heard through the arena. Yet another one tribute down. So Nico's deathly feelings had been right.

Only question left: who was the dead tribute?

Shadows disappeared. The fast moving feeling faded, and she was standing back at the meeting point that they had agreed on earlier.

Nico was catching his breath, and his stygian iron sword was drawn. His eyes darted from tree to tree, as though expecting something to attack him.

Except that there was no one there apart from the two of them. Even Percy, Katniss, and Peeta, who was supposed to be back about five minutes ago, was not to be seen.

Thalia took out two long silver knives, just in case something pounced on them. She had to be ready.

Then, a bright gold light flashed, forcing both Thalia and Nico to look away. When the light finally subsided, Thalia raised her knives ready to strike the attacker. She blinked, and saw a salt and pepper haired middle aged man. He had a caduceus in one hand, with two snakes wrapped around each other. It was the messenger god, the god of thieves and travelers.

"Lord Hermes." Thalia bowed. Nico followed suit.

"Quite right." Hermes nodded. He looked slightly annoyed at something.
