chapter six ❤︎︎

Today was the day we were travelling home from sunny Spain back to boring Birmingham. We had arrived at the airport just after 7pm and we had a night flight so i planned to sleep on the plane.

'do you wanna sit near the window?' Jobe asked when we found our seats.

'hell yeah.' I said, he nodded and let me past to get to the end seat.

Eventually everyone was in their places and the plane would soon be departing to begin its journey back to the UK. I got my travel neck pillow out and put my airpods in to cancel out any loud noise that would stop me from sleeping.

I felt the plane wobble a little as we took off but eventually it smoothed out when we were in the air. I looked down to my left and saw Jobe holding out a bag of m&m's. He nodded for me to take some and so i put my hand in the packet and took a few, giving him a smile after as a 'thank you'.

I woke up to a rattling noise and rubbed my eyes, we had landed. I took my airpods out and put my neck pillow into my bag so everything was ready to grab easily when we got off.

'You're awake, finally.' My mother said from the end of the row. I gave her a nod and looked out my window. It was raining, great.

'take my jumper, put it over your head so you won't get wet.' Jobe said, handing me his hoodie.

'thank you.' I smiled, adjusting my bag on my shoulder so it wouldn't rub as much.

'give me that too.' he said, gesturing for me to hand him my bag.

'it's okay, i got it.'

'It's hurting your shoulder Kaliyah, give it here.' he insisted and i handed him the bag..

We walked down the steps and towards the bus, all the passengers were scrambling inside but it was already looking very full. It was chucking it down with rain. Jobe walked in front with his bag on his back and mine in his left hand.

The bus filled up and drove off before we could all get on, the remaining passengers had to wait for another to arrive. So for a few minutes we were all just standing in the rain.

'You're getting soaked,' I laughed, looking up at Jobe and pulling the hoodie over his head too so he was covered. We were chest to chest, i could feel his warm breathing on me. I looked at him for a second but the eye contact made me nervous so i looked down at our feet instead.

All i could smell was him, but it wasn't a cologne smell, it was just what he smelt like. It was a comforting kind of smell.

Eventually another bus came and we all hurried onto it to get shelter from the rain.

We got inside the actual airport building and went to collect our luggage from where it had been dropped off, it didn't take long as most people came in on another bus and had already got theirs.

Kaliyah's dad had organized them a taxi to pick them up earlier on today, so after they had their luggage it was time for them to go. Mum, dad and i walked with them to the car park but our taxi wasn't coming for another twenty minutes.

Mum and Laura were saying goodbye to each other by hugging and kissing like they'd never see each other again, such a mum thing. My dad and Lee also said their goodbyes to each other with a simple hand shake and a 'let's go to the pub soon.'

And then there was Kaliyah.

'Goodbye Jobe.' She smiled, coming over and wrapping her arms around my neck.

'See you later.' I said, wrapping my arms around her waist. I could feel her feet lift off the floor as she hugged me, she was a lot shorter than i was, I'm not really sure how she could reach my neck.

She looked up at me with a smile plastered across her face, i noticed she was wearing my jumper now. It had dried off from the rain when we came inside and she had probably put it on to keep warm. I didn't mind, i wasn't going to ask for it back now, she would be cold without it.

They put all their luggage into the back of the car before getting in. We waved them off and then stood waiting for ours.

'You two are very close now.' Mum said, smirking at me.

'What? It's not like that, we're literally like siblings mum.' I frowned.

Her and dad looked each other, i could tell they didn't believe me. 'That explains her wearing your jumper doesn't it?' she laughed, i could tell she was enjoying this.

'Are you crazy? It was literally raining.' I snapped. 'Honestly, it isn't like that, not at all. I literally have a date tomorrow, and it's not with her.'

We arrived home in the early hours of the morning, even though i slept on the plane for a few hours i was still absolutely exhausted so the first thing i did after taking my bags up was change into pyjama shorts and take of my bra. Taking off my bra at the end of each day felt like a reward every time, no matter how many times i did it.

Jobe's jumper. I was still wearing it. I had completely forgotten to give it back, i was far too tired to message him about it now so i decided i would in the morning.

It felt so comfortable, i didn't want to take it off.

I climbed into bed and within minutes fell asleep, leaving the luggage chaos for tomorrow. The greatest feeling is being back home in your bed after being away for a while.
