Selena Lockwood

I honestly don't know what to think.

But I do know one thing. I'm NEVER sharing a flight with him. Even the thought of being in the same room as him makes my blood boil.

Every time I look into his face, that dreadful night is all I can think about.

That one night replaced all our beautiful moments. Library dates, staring at the night sky on the beach, the day we got married, the day he launched his company, staying with him late in the night when he worked endless nights, the day we conceived our child....

I'd rather not think about it.

I deserve to know the reason why we got divorced.

I don't know why he sounded like I deceived him. He didn't even let me speak then.

Trust.

He did not trust me like I trusted him.

Hell, I don't even think he trusted me.

I need to stop thinking about him.

Right now, I'm in my office, pondering on Mr.Morales' offer.

"Take it, or you are out. You have an hour."

If I take up the offer, I'd be promoted after 4 months. This means I have to stay in New York for 4 months and work in Ashford Industries.

Being promoted equals great pay, which equals a secure life for my daughter.

I think I know the answer.

"I will take up the offer." I informed Mr.Morales.

"Great, I will inform Mr. Ashford that you will join him."

"I apologise, sir, but I would rather fly alone. I actually have a 3 year old. So, it will really be helpful if you would allow me to leave in 2 days."

"2 days? It's fine. I will speak to Mr. Ashford. I know how it feels to handle a toddler. No offence, Ashford doesn't seem like a guy who would entertain a kid. He joked.

"Thank you, Mr Morales. I'll not let you down." I thanked him and left.

Now all I want is to pick Lyra up and have a nice warm bath an—

I was suddenly pulling into a dark, empty room by someone.

I closed my eyes. What could go wrong?

"Fancy seeing you here, Lockwood."

Apparently, everything can indeed go wrong.

I slowly opened my eyes, deep blue eyes staring into mine.

I could not decipher anything, not when he was pressed into me. I could feel goosebumps in me.

I hate that he still has an effect on me.

"What do you want, Lucian?"

"Never thought I'd see you again. I thought you were rotting away in Brooklyn."  His voice was filled with so much venom that I could not even believe that this was the man I once loved and admired.

"Why do you care what I do? We split, remember. Why don't you do what you always do, which is running away." His grip tightening around my wrist. I'm pretty sure it's red.

"You don't know anything about me. I regret ever loving you. But I will make sure you regret every bit of your deeds when you step into New York. Till we meet again, Ivy." He smirked and left me alone in the dark.
