Truth be told

Chapter 13

Hawaii is just beautiful. The house we are all staying in is beautiful. The pool overlooks the ocean. All the bedrooms have an ensuite. Mine and Brendons bedroom has a queensize 4 poster bed. Every room is decorated to a really high standard. There is a piano in the game room. I spotted it and started to play a classical piece. I always get lost when I play. It's just me and the music. When I finished, everyone stood watching me. They all applauded.
I blushed.
"Can you play another piece?" Kai asked. I nodded and began.
I played The Manuscript. I sing this one, too. Sarah had a tear in her eye. Brendon was very surprised. He knew I could play piano but not the singing.
"Wow, Lizzie, that was beautiful." Brendon said as I finished.
"You should play something, Beebo." I suggested.
"Nah, it's OK." He said and walked out of the room.
"We need groceries." Caitlin announced. "There must be a market somewhere around here." And she went on Google to find one. "Aha!" Was all I heard.
"You found one Caitlin?" I asked.
"Yea, you wanna help?"
"Sure." I replied, and off we went, shouting to whoever was around that we were going shopping.
It was such a hot day. We drove to the market with the sun roof open on the rental mini van we had.
When we entered the market, the relief of AC was welcoming.
We grabbed a cart and got staples like pasta and rice. We were planning meals for 7 dinners. Chicken ground beef pork fresh vegetables, seasoning. We finally finished and paid. We loaded everything into the car and started back for the house. As I got in the car to drive back, I heard someone call my name. I found it strange because we were a long way from home. I heard my name called again. I looked around the parking lot, but I couldn't see anyone I knew. I shrugged it off, got in the car, and headed back.
As we approached the house, the guys were having a water fight. Brendon had water balloons, as did Sarah. They were against Kai and Kaylin. Caitlin and I started to unload the car.
"Time out, guys!" Sarah yelled and came to help along with the other 3. Once everything was put away, I felt like a swim and to do some sun bathing. I changed into a bikini and put my cover up on. I got my things together and went out to the pool. I got in and swam around for a bit. I was on my back, looking at the cloudless blue sky. I sensed someone getting in the pool as well. I looked to see Sarah and Kaylin. I swam over to them. Kaylin was upset.
"What's wrong, Kay?" I asked her.
"Her and Kai had a big fight." Sarah answered.
"Oh no. Hopefully, you 2 will sort things out." I said.
"Well, I don't know." Kaylin said.
"What was the fight about, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Kai thinks that I want to fuck Brendon." Kaylin looked down at her hands in the pool.
"Who doesn't?" I chuckled. "I mean have you see him?" I think Kaylin thought that I would kick off or something. Nope. No guy is worth spoiling all the years of friendship we have.
Kaylin laughed and seemed to relax a bit.
"This isn't on you Kay. This is Kais issue, with his insecurity. He certainly shouldn't lay it at your door." I said.
Kaylin nodded and gave me a small smile. We then played with an inflatable ball in the pool. We chatted and laughed as we did so.

We had spaghetti for dinner. The boys cooked this evening. It was delicious. Sarah and Kaylin cleared the dishes. I decided to have a bath. I went upstairs and started to run my bath. I got in, and it felt wonderful. I had my chill playlist on. Exile came on. I sang it at the top of my voice in the bathroom. As I sang, Brendon came into the bathroom. He stripped off and got in the bath with me. He managed to get in behind me. I lean against his chest. He kissed behind my ear, and we relaxed together.

The next day, we had a pool day. It was so hot, and we were all chilling by the pool. I was sitting on a lounger reading my book. I also had my earbuds in. Fall Out Boy was in an arms race at the moment. As I read, Brendon came out with a drink and sat in a lounger next to Kaylin. It was the only free one. He got his phone out. A minute later, my phone vibrated. It was next to me on the lounger. I picked it up and saw a message from Brendon. I opened it up. I bit my lip and looked up at him. He winked at me. I messaged something back to him and carried on reading.
I heard his notification sound go off, and he opened what I had sent him. He looked at me, his jaw hanging open. I was expecting another message back, but he just looked over at me and said.
"You are such a sexy sexy woman." His eyes flicked towards Kaylin as she coughed a little.
Kai was sunbathing. He propped himself up on his elbows.
"I hope you were talking to Liz there, dude."
"Of course I was. Who else would I be talking to?" Brendon looked puzzled. He didn't know about Kai and Kaylins' fight, which was still ongoing.
"Just checking." Kai said and laid back down. Kaylin sighed loudly. At this point, Sarah gave me a look, and I nodded in agreement. This was gonna blow up again. Kaylin was not going to let Kai get away with making comments like that.
Brendon shrugged his shoulders and laid back on his lounger.
Kaylin started chatting with Brendon. He made a joke about something, and Kaylin laughed. Kai sat up again.
"Seriously, dude, what are you doing with my girl?" He asked.
Brendon, again, looked puzzled.
"Nothing." Brendon replied. Kai turned to me.
"Are you OK with this?" He asked.
"With what?"
"Your guy and my girl all over each other."
Kaylin stood up. "Fucks sake Kai! You are being ridiculous. You need to stop." She said and walked into the house. Sarah and I went into the house after her.
We found Kaylin in the living room sobbing. She was pacing with anger at him. "He is pissing me off now!" She yelled. "He also tried to show Brendon up as well. How are you not pissed as well, Liz?"
"I am." I replied. "Cos he upset one of my best friends. He is meant to be a friend, too."
"Was he like this when you 2 were dating?" Sarah asked me.
"Nope, never," I shook my head.
"Then why?" Kaylin asked.
"What's different about him dating Kaylin over him dating you, Liz?" Sarah asked. We all looked at each other. Kaylin snapped her fingers.
"Brendon. Brendons the change. He's insecure over Brendon."
"Ohhh," me and Sarah said in realisation.
Kaylin looked at us. "I can't deal with him, I have already spoken to him, and he said he will try harder. What do I do? We have been dating for three weeks or something."
"Kay, a relationship shouldn't be this hard." I said to her. "Yea, there's ups and downs, but you shouldn't be made to feel this way just because you talk to a guy friend." Sarah nodded in agreement. "I love Kai, but I will call him out on his bullshit behaviour." As we were talking, Brendon came into the house.
"I had to come back inside. Kai keeps saying that he knows about me and Kaylin. That he doesn't know how I can cheat on Liz with one of her best friends." He said throwing his hands up. He came and put an arm around me as we stood there talking. Kaylin looked mad, like I have only ever seen her this mad once before, when someone was bullying her younger brother.
"Sarah can you ask Kai to come in here please? And guys can we have some privacy?"
"Yes of course."we replied. The three of us went back outside. Sarah told Kai what Kaylin had requested. Kai let out a sigh and went into the house.
Caitlin had been oblivious up until this point. She had her headphones on and was reading a magazine. We filled her in on events.
"How about barbecue for dinner?" Sarah suggested.
"Sounds good," we all agreed. We had burgers.
"Me and Brendon can go get the rest of the groceries we need." Sarah said. Brendon put his tshirt and thongs on. Sarah went to throw some shorts and a tshirt on. They went off to the market, leaving me and Caitlin by the pool.
