Brendon walked in and stopped in his tracks when he saw Kaylin standing there.
"Oh." He said.
"Bren," I said, putting a hand on his arm. "Kaylins here to apologise."
"Yes. I was going to come and see you next, Brendon." Kaylin explained.
"Let me stop you there, Kaylin." Brendon said. "I also need to apologise to you for the way I behaved. There were 2 of us doing this."
"Yes, but I schemed and manipulated to have you." Kaylin confessed. Brendon nodded at her admission. He looked at me.
"Are you OK, Lizzie?" I nodded in response.
Kaylin said goodbye and walked out of the store. Sarah said that Kaylin came to her and confessed everything. She said that Kaylin was pissed because no matter what she did, Brendon wouldn't let Liz go.
"It all came to a head one night when Brendon was asleep. Kaylin was still awake, and you, Brendon, called out for Lizzie in your sleep." Brendons eyes widened when he heard this. He obviously didn't know that he had done that. "That's when Kaylin realised she was fighting a losing battle. So the other night when you saw them, it was the last time for Kaylin. She was going to tell Brendon the truth."
"I see." I nodded. I carried on stocking shelves, and Sarah and Brendon followed me around. We chatted more about the Kaylin situation. Sarah asked me something.
"Why are you pissed with them both?"
"Brendon, because he fucked one of my best friends. That hurt. Kaylin because she purposely went out of her way to get into Brendons pants. I know neither of them were cheating, but it felt like there was no thought or consideration for people surrounding them both. That's what I am pissed about. And just because me and Brendon are together again and engaged doesn't mean that he's forgiven yet. He has a long way to go to prove how sorry he is."
I was feeling better to get that off my chest in front of Brendon. Brendon nodded and gave me a side hug. Sarah was thinking about what I said and realisation lit her face up.
"You guys are engaged?" She asked. We both nodded.
"Can you and Caitlin be my bridesmaids, please?" I asked her.
" I can't speak for Caitlin, actually yes I can, and we would both be thrilled." Sarah hugged Brendon, then me. "Congratulations, you two. Have you set a date yet?"
"New Years Eve. "Brendon replied. Sarah nodded, smiling.
"Wait, this New Years Eve?" She asked. We both nodded. "How? Can you even plan a wedding in 5 days?"
"Sarah, we live in Vegas, of course we can." Brendon laughed.
"Shoot, so we do." Sarah joined in with the laughter. Brendon had to go home to do lesson prep work. Sarah stayed with me until the end of my shift, so we could go dress shopping together. She messaged Caitlin to meet us at the bridal store.
After work, we headed to the mall. Sarah followed behind me. Caitlin worked at a tea shop in the mall. So she didn't have far to travel.
We walked through the mall to the bridal shop, where Caitlin was waiting.
"Hey guys," she said and hugged me. "Congratulations, Liz." And then we entered the store. I had no idea what I wanted yet. I was willing to try anything on. I spent my life in leggings and shirts with my vans or Converse. The assistant came to us.
"Hello, my name is Susan. Can I help you, ladies?" She asked, smiling.
"Yes, my bestie here is getting married on New Years Eve, and she needs a wedding dress." Caitlin explained.
Susan looked me up and down to determine what size I am.
I wasn't a skinny girl. I never have been. I keep fit, but I have always had a little bit of a belly there. I always feel self-conscious trying things on, though. I think they won't fit because my view of myself is that I am too fat for anything the store might carry.
"Do you have a shape in mind?" Susan asked me. I shook my head.
"What's your budget?"
"2500." Caitlin said. I looked at her. "I have rich parents that still give me a sizeable allowance. I save up, so this can be my wedding present to you." She explained.
"Caitlin." I said and started crying. I hugged her.
"Caity." Sarah said and kissed Caitlin. "That's an amazing thing to do."
"Right let's start looking shall we." Susan said and off we went, wedding dress shopping. I pulled a couple out that were within the budget.
When I took them to the changing rooms, there were a few for me to try on already. Susan came into the room.
"Right, Liz, which one piques your interest first?" She asked. I pointed to one that had a fitted body and trumpet like bottom made of tulle.
Susan helped me get into it, and when I saw myself, it was an immediate no. We went and showed my friends, but they agreed with me. The next one I tried on was more like a princess dress. It had straps and a sweetheart neckline. It had beading with lace. It was a beautiful dress, but it definitely wasn't me. I am definitely not a princess. I tried a few dresses on, and none of them felt like me. Susan went and looked for more. She came back with 3 more. I tried the first one on. I looked in the mirror and cried when I saw myself.
"Shall we show your friends?" Susan asked. I nodded. As I stepped into the ladies' view, I heard gasps.

"Omg, that's the one!" Sarah said. Then she noticed me crying. Cailin looked at me and said,"You want to marry Brendon in this, don't you? This is your dress." I just nodded. I felt so overwhelmed.
Caitlin paid for my dress and any alterations that may need doing.
We looked for bridesmaids' dresses and found 2 in completely different shapes. They were baby pink. I bought those and paid for alterations. Sarah said she would come and pick them up the day before the wedding.
