Scene V
Young America POV (January 14 after school)
"I thought you said you didn't like China!" Confederate barges into my room, breaking my mirror that's behind my door. I jump in fright, holding my book close to me.
I swallow, "I don't Connie. Where are you hearing this from?"
She slams the door close, unable to control her anger. "I saw you two hugging and holding hands today during recess. I was supposed to be in your place!" She storms over and snatches my book away from me. I stare at her, shivering in fright.
"I don't like him," I mumble softly. Before she could rip my book, my mouth said something on its own, "I like Italy."
"Italy?" She asks. I nod my head quickly. My body trembles, hoping she doesn't see through my lie. She laughs softly to herself, "I'm sorry. China holds hands with everyone! I should've known better."
I nod, "please don't tell Italy. This is a secret between us."
She smirks, "I'll tell China so we can set you up!"
I bite my lips, "please don't."
"He won't tell Italy! I'll ensure it," she smiles.
"Okay. I trust you."
"Union, you like Italy?!"
"Shut up Can-can! Get outta here! This is girls talk right now!" Confederate yells back.
What am I going to do?
...(the next day; January 15)...
"China! I need to tell you something!" Confederate beams, rushing over to China. My eyes widen as I bite my lips nervously. Where's Italy? I need to tell him or else he will get the wrong idea!
I look around, finding Italy talking to Finland and Estonia. I swallow, walking over to them. I tap Italy's shoulder. "Can I talk to you for a moment?" I whisper softly.
He nods, smiling brightly, "sure, what's up?" I drag him away from his friends so we have some sort of privacy.
"I'm sorry." I mumble. "I told Connie I liked you because she kept accusing me of liking her crush, which is China."
He looks at me baffled and then a small grin appears on his lips. "Jealous, isn't she?" Italy laughs. I fumble my fingers, not knowing why he's reacting this way. "She's ruining my ship!" He grumbles, looking to the side angrily.
I tilt my head, confused at the sudden topic change. "Ship? Are we threatening your parents' freedom of the seas? I'll tell her to stop—"
"No, not that kind of ship," Italy laughs.
Estonia peaks over Italy's shoulder, "are we talking about ships? I ship Cuba and Canada!" I blink, confused.
"What she means is that she wants Canada and Cuba to start dating," Finland rolls his eyes. "I don't think it will happen though."
Estonia slaps Finland on the arm, "don't say that! Maybe it might happen!"
"Me and Canada? No way!" Cuba screams, gaging slightly. "He's so ugly." He adds in disgust.
Finland smirks, "so you are gay."
"Me? No!" Cuba yells. "You are gay!"
Finland glares at him, "I am not! I like Estonia!" He covers his mouth, realizing what he just said. His cheeks become super red! I giggle softly as Estonia and Finland look at each other dumbfounded and embarrassed.
