Song of the Night: Sweet Dreams by: Ferdinand fka Left Boy

"For the rest of your life, I'll be there. I'll be stuck in your head like the roots of your hair."

TW: yelling, hallucinations, swearing.

We were all grouped up on the top of the god foresaken, abandoned building. As we all were circled around a dimly lit lamp. Long story short, I told them about the shadows, and they somewhat believed me. I was surprised I wasn't going mentally ill. I felt like I was halfway there. Sam was explaining what we were gonna try doing or tried to explain. All of us were on five hours of sleep. Koko was writing something with a serious expression on her face, Kai, Hannah, and Ren basically fell asleep. Chris, Levi, and Jay were all playing Subway Surfers and yelling at each other to mess up on the game. I was trying to pay attention, but I felt the buzzing in my ears and my eyes unfocusing on random spots on the roof. Sam sighs and just sits down next to me and Koko, giving up. Koko shows Sam what she was writing, she give a nod and a smile and points a finger at her screen, correcting her on something. I rub my eyes again, feeling my eyes get more itchy. I remember when I was in the fifth grade, I had an allergic reaction, and everyone thought I was on drugs since my eyes were so red. Kourtney nudges me, giving me a questioning look. I shrug a little. She gave me a blank stare and just glared at me, knowing something was wrong. I couldn't help but smile awkwardly before the buzzing happened again. I put my elbow on my knee, and I lean my forehead against my hand, letting out a sigh. Koko looks back at me and wraps an arm around me, I lean into her, rubbing my forehead.

After an hour or so, a couple of people fell asleep, and the remaining people awake were off doing whatever. I sat at the edge of the building, looking down at the almost empty roads, the dim lights filling the air. I looked down at my hands, feeling those sparks I hadn't felt in a while. I gently tapped my fingers together, feeling staticly. I hummed quietly to the discovery, continuing to tap my fingers together. I gently grabbed my headphones and put them over my ears, reaching to grab my phone. When I looked down at my side, my phone wasn't there. I moved some stuff around, trying to find it. I then hear a buzzing sound.

"Looking for something?" I turned around, seeing the figure. Still slender and mysterious the last time I saw them. It held my phone between its fingertips.
"What's up with you now?" I ask as I reach to grab it, the smirk sinisterly at me.
"Mmm... You've got mentally stronger, young atlas." They state. I scoffed at the nickname, and I snatched my phone from them.
"Why are you here. I've noticed you'd show up before..." I say when I pause, I looked around for a second. The world felt so quiet. All the life was sucked out of the air. "...Before something 'bad' happens." I finish. "What's going on." I ask firmly. They laugh at me.
"Why so serious?" They shrug at me. Their grin wiped off before a flash of light flew past them, the air hot in their grasp before it cools. My hand is in place from where I shot the 'light'. I was surprised by myself before I started speaking.
"Let me out." They frown.
"You aren't gonna like what you see~"
"Let me fucking out, damnit."
"Your loss." I blinked multiple times as they faded away, I rubbed my eyes, and I looked around. Nothing. That was until I heard a scream. I knew that scream. I'd hear it anytime we'd argue about the stupidest things. When she'd yell when we'd play horror games. This scream was anything but full of pain. And fear. I turned around quickly, my heart nearly dropping, all of the air from my body gone. And I just stared. Everything looked like a blur as the tears rimmed my eyes, my chest tightening. I couldn't speak. I needed to. But all I could yell was, all the air I could spare in that moment was her name.

"KOKO!"
