Naina's pov

There are many guys named Varun in this world, right? My sister knew more than one varun.

"I-i'm not sure I know him." I fumble through my words.

Radhika moves closer to me. "Naina, I know you know. My brother told me about his girlfriend's little sister." She holds my arm and speak in desperation, "He said he is leaving for London the day, same day as your sister ran away, he never checked in the hotel or went to our family home. I have no way of contacting him. Please tell me if you know something."

"I don't." I say the truth. I don't know anything yet.

She looks defeated and her eyes get fill with tears. "I love my brother so much, I just want to know that he is safe. We are surrounded by people who won't hesitate to kill either of them, we both know that."

I know damn it, I know. Which is why I'm trying to find my sister before any of these people can. All this time alone in the house I tried to find the number in all of my things but came up empty-handed. It's not like I can do much with my limited resources.

"Have you told anyone about it?" I ask carefully, I don't know if I can trust her or not.

"No. Not even my husband." She looks around and says, "Everyone in my family thinks he is in London. He is not picking up his calls because that's very common occurrence with him."

"Bhabhi?" I turn around at Shreya's voice. Her eyes move to Radhika and she smiles widely, "Radhika bhabhi." She give her a hug and look at me, "Panditji is ready to begin, bhai is waiting for you."

I nod my head at her and look at radhika with a smile, "we'll catch up later okay."

"Yes yes. I loved your opinions on recent fashion. We'll be best friends." Radhika says with a smile. Smooth.

We will be best friends, but for completely different reasons.

I walk to the hall where everyone has already taken their seats. I cover my head with the pallu of the saree and sit down beside rudra on the cushioned tiny stools.

The pooja went on for hours, as soon as the havan started my eyes started watering.

Everyone is sniffling around us and shreyansh comments from somewhere in the back, "should've put on some shades." I chuckle.

I feel rudra's eyes at me, I look up and watch him staring down at me.

"What?" I ask in a whisper.

"Stop laughing at his stupid jokes." He say through his hardened jaw. For some reason it looks like he is completely unaffected by the smoke. I mean he won't be affected by it because he is an incarnation of the devil and us pure souls are the only ones affected by it.

"Should I also stop breathing while I'm at it."

He shake his head once before looking forward. Arrogant jerk.

"Put your right hand over your left." Panditji says to me.

I use my thumb to discreetly rotate the engagement ring on my finger and loosen it. I then put my right hand over my left.

He put a spoon full of water in my palm, "put it in the fire once I'm done with the mantra." I nod my head.

He starts chanting and I try not to let the water seap through my fingers.
