Ellington knocked on the door, waiting patiently as he heard someone coming to the door.

"Hey man, thanks for coming. He could use some company." Ross said, inviting Ellington in.

"Thanks for texting me. Can I go see him?" Ellington asked.

"Yeah he's upstairs, third door on the left." Ross replied, going to the living room.

Ellington climbed the stairs to Riker's room, knocking on the closed door.

"Come in!" He heard Riker's voice call.

Ellington opened the door to see Riker sitting up and looking at the direction of the door without his usual sunglasses. Ellington closed the door behind him and was drawn to his open, hazel eyes looking straight at him but not really seeing him. Realizing that he was silent for too long, he cleared his throat.

"Hi Riker, Ross invited me." He said, standing next to his bed.

"Hi." Riker said shyly. "Sorry about my eyes, I can't really control them."

"That's okay they're pretty... Nice! They're pretty nice." Ellington stammered, looking at his eyes.

Riker scooted over and patted the bed next to him. Ellington kicked off his shoes and sat at the end of his bed, uncomfortably.

"Come here." Riker pulled him up on the bed and sat Ellington down next to him. "So what brings you here?" Riker asked.

"I just wanted to see you and Ross said you could use some company." Ellington answered, playing with a loose string on his shirt.

"I'm glad you came, it was so boring up here by myself. " Riker said, reaching out for his hands. Ellington gave him his hands and rested his head back.

They sat in a comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company. As Ellington was closing his eyes, he felt soft hands on his face. When Riker's fingers got to his lips, he traced them lightly, tickling Ellington's skin.

"What are you doing?" Ellington asked.

"Just feeling you." He replied.

Ellington stuck his tongue out, touching Riker's fingers. He grimaced, wiping his hands on Ellington's shirt. Ellington opened his eyes, smiling at the boy next to him.

"I'm tired." Riker yawned.

"Then go to sleep." Ellington answered, laying down all the way, Riker doing the same.

Riker rested his head on Ellington's chest and closed his eyes. Ellington ran his fingers through Riker's hair soothingly, making Riker drift off to sleep.

Ellington waited a while till he knew Riker was fully asleep before slipping Riker's head off of his chest carefully. He slipped on his shoes, covered Riker up with his blanket then quietly slipped out of the door. Ellington went downstairs, telling Ross that he was leaving and that Riker was asleep.

Ellington went home, thinking about Riker. He thought about his open, beautiful eyes and how he held his own hands and how much he cared about Riker. He knew that he would do whatever it took to protect Riker from the harsh world and he would always be there for him, no matter what.
