Author's pov:
The clock on the bedside table ram shortly as it blinked 5:00 am and Irisha stirred under the warmth of her cozy comforter. Her eyelids fluttered open, greeted by the dimness of the room, and she blinked a few times to adjust her vision.
After what happened yesterday with the Kheer she made Irisha wasn't able to sleep very much. She was sure she had added sugar but that somehow turned out to be salt and it was still eating her out.
Irisha had decided to finally try something she was so scared of and surprise the family with the breakfast but instead of using her baking as an escape she wanted to try out her culinary skills.
After all how bad can it be?
Her food is just a little overcooked, sometimes burnt and at other times it just lacks the tastes but she can manage with a little bit of help from her pinterest and obviously do it with extra carefulness.
She had hoped this gesture would bring a smile to their faces well anything she presents them will bring a smile to their faces but she wanted to actually make something from them even if she ran 10 feets away from the idea of cooking.
Her eyes fell on Veer who was sleeping comfortably beside her. Her hand itself made it's way to his hairs as she leaned in to see his features more clearly.
'He looks so good even in his sleep.' She wondered and shook her head realising she might wake him up.
Carefully extricating herself from the covers so as not to disturb Veer, Irisha tiptoed across the room, her bare feet making soft whispers on the carpeted floor as she entered the washroom.
"Meri kadhi ki shakl dekh lenge to pohe ko to haath bhi nhi lagaenge." She mumbled to herself with a sad expression as she looked at herself in the mirror and realised she was all ready for her cooking adventure.
She turned on her phone's flashlight and taking the tablet in her hand tiptoed downstairs to the kitchen making sure not to make any noise.
In the kitchen, she flicked on a small overhead light. Her heart fluttered with anticipation and a touch of nervousness as she peeked towards the dining hall and across it to see if any of the room's had their lights on but to her luck everyone seemed fast asleep downstairs as well.
With her tablet propped up on the counter, Irisha scrolled through Pinterest, searching for the perfect recipe that she had already saved on the previous night.
She settled on Poha and Eggs Benedict, something she had never attempted before but seemed delightful enough to impress everyone.
Irisha had always loved her mom's typical breakfast that would either be Poha or Upama but she never tried it because even turning on the stove for her is a big challange and the times she did, she ended up ruining the whole kitchen but this time she was determined not to fail.
Her hands worked diligently as she gathered the ingredients, occasionally glancing back at the tablet for guidance. The silence of the early morning wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, broken only by the occasional sound of a spoon clinking against a bowl or a cupboard softly closing.
She made sure to keep in mind that this was supposed to be a surprise and she needed to be extra careful so as to not make any noise.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Veer shifted in bed. He sensed Isha's absence beside him. Isha never wakes up so early and that made him worried. Does it have something to do with what happened yesterday. She seemed upset all evening.
He got up and moved his eyes all over the room not finding any traces of his wife. Veer then checked the Balcony and then the washroom, it was only after seeing her clothes in the laundry basket did he realise that she had taken a bath.
