Irisha sat by the window of her bakery, her eyes fixed on the street beyond the glass. It had been a year since she left everything behind - her home, her life, and him. Now, back in the city that once held all her happiness, she felt like a stranger.
She needed to leave, go back, escape to the mountains she had found peace in. Or maybe just enough time and space to ignore everything, distract her self.
She was hellbent on leaving and they weren't letting her. Rakshit stayed back because she agreed to stay for only three days and today was her last day here.
She had visited everyone, the Raichands too. She met Sia bhabhi's little Ishaan and talked to Shraddha bhabhi about her baby who seemed to be coming soon. She met the others and her time went well, but she couldn't find him anywhere.
She didn't really know whether to be glad about it or sad.
Across from her, Rakshit sat in silence. He almost hadn't seen her in a year, well atleast not talked.
As much as Rakshit felt the anger on Veer for hurting her, he knew she wasn't living without him.
She was just existing.
None of them really knew what happened between the two. Irisha ran away and Veer, he seemed like a ghost locking himself away as well.
Rakshit could see the depth of her pain in the way her shoulders hunched and her hands trembled as she clutched the coffee cup between her palms.
"Pumpkin," He began softly, unsure of where to start.
She looked up at him, her dark eyes shadowed with a sadness he hadn't seen in her his whole lifr. "I thought I was okay, Rakshit," she whispered, her voice brittle. "I thought ignoring it all would lessen my pain, that it would be easier… but it never was. I thought I could manange for a few days here but seeing him again…" Her voice faltered, and she turned her gaze back to the outside.
Rakshit leaned forward, his brows knitting together in concern, he knew the truth all too well. "You still love him."
A bitter laugh escaped her lips. "I don't think I will ever stop loving him. But love wasn't enough, was it? Not when he didn't trust me. Not when he believed I was capable of things I would never even think of doing."
Rakshit sighed heavily. He knew when Irisha had signed the divorce papers and walked away, she had broken her own heart in the process. He had tried to be there for her, but she refused to let him or anyone in.
"He didn't ask, He didn't give me a chance to explain," Irisha continued, her voice gaining strength as the emotions bubbled to the surface. "He accused me."
She glanced at him, her eyes welling up but the tears won't flow. She was trying to sct strong holding it all in. "One mistake… one misunderstanding, and it was like everything we hadbuilt meant nothing. I wasn't the woman he could trust anymore. I wasn't the woman he loved. And the worst part is, Rakshit, I never stopped loving him. I still don't. I don't know how to stop."
Rakshit reached out, placing his hand over hers, offering her some sort of comfort cause it always helped. "None of this was your fault Irisha."
"I know," she whispered, tears threatening to fall. "But one glance at him, it's like every part of me wants to run to him, to beg him to fix it. But I can't. I won't. I have been through too much, Rakshit. I don't have any fight left in me for someone who didn't trust me when it mattered."
She wiped at her eyes, frustration coloring her tone. "It hurts. It hurts so fucking much because I wanted him to stop me… to believe in me, even when everything was against us. I kept waiting for him to come after me, to fight for us, but he didn't."
