Theo wasn't necessarily lying when he said he was doing Bible study.Finding out that demon—velocious or whatever it's—his— name was— was harmless turned his whole world upside down.
He had spend the better half of his childhood and all of his adulthood reading the Bible, and printed all in it is how demons are evil and harmful creatures.
So why hadn't the one in his basement hurt him? Better yet, why hadn't he even tried to get out?
And so now Theo had been sitting with a notebook to his left, Heaven, Hell, and- to his right, and the Bible in the middle for hours.
And he hadn't found any answers.
So, he did the only other think that could potentially ease his mind. He headed back to the basement.
"Demon" he addressed when he opened the door, trying to set some kind of authority.
"Valerius" the demon corrected, irritation seeping into his voice ever so slightly.
He stood from where he had been laying on the floor and stretched a bit before looking back at Theo expectantly.
"Explain it." Theo demanded, "all of it"
The demon paused. "Explain what?"
Theo made his way down the stairs, not breaking contact with the demons pitch black eyes the entire time. His appearance still frightened Theo, but the fear had subsided significantly since the first time he saw him.
"How you're here. Why you're here" Theo laid his words flat, "why this doesn't affect you" he held out his Bible close to the demon, close enough for him to grab it if he pleased.
The demon looked left, then right.
"I really don't know much more than you do, haven't I made that clear?" He asked, his voice kind but his words a bit sarcastic.
"I don't care. Tell me everything you know. I want details and reasoning and everything you can offer. Not just a history lesson about some war thousands of years ago." Theo retorted.
The demons eyebrows dropped and a bit of hair fell into his face. "Fine"
Theo felt like a weight had been lifted off his chest. He was finally about to have some answers. Not only that, but each time the demon told him something important, Theo got a bit less scared of him. Surely if he had ill intentions he wouldn't be telling him anything.
"But can we at least get out of this basement? It's dusty." He asked while gesturing to the room around him.
Theo couldn't deny it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Nobody was ever even down there.
"Alright.. but all the doors are locked, you won't be able to escape" Theo threatened, doing what he could to keep his authority.
The two made their way back upstairs, sitting at a table not far from the basement door, where Theo had previously been searching both his Bible and the book, Heaven, Hell, and- for answers.
Theo grabbed a chair, but waited for the demon to sit down before he did. He pushed his Bible and the other book to the side and opened to a blank section of his notebook.
"Go on" Theo ushered, grabbing a pencil.
The demon stayed quiet for a moment, glancing at a window that was covered by curtains.
"Demon" Theo addressed, trying to pull his attention back.
"Valerius" the demon corrected, but his eyes never left the window.
