"Well, well, well! What have we here?!" Kokichi "Shiroma" singsonged, his clown mask drawing closer to the comically large, metal padlock on the comically large, metal door.
"Looks like someone doesn't want to play! They're trying to keep us out!" The girl beside him, his queen, Kurumi "Shiroma", chirped, rocking back and forth on her feet. There was an innocent lilt in her voice, but it was laced with a deadly, poisonous sarcasm. Then, with a childish and gentle giggle, the little girl pulled out a toy snake from behind her back.
"Go, go, Gomu, go!" she chanted softly, squeezing its rubbery belly. The tongue that shot out of its mouth had a pointed metal tip.
"Not bad, sis," Kokichi said.
"Thanks, he's like a swiss army knife!" Kurumi bragged as she shoved the snake's tongue into the padlock. A comically large, metal lockpick for a comically large, metal padlock. And after a bit of fidgeting and wiggling, the padlock fell away.
One of the more muscular members of DICE lunged forward to catch the lock before it clattered against the ground. The king and queen of DICE, meanwhile, gripped the doors, prying them opening slowly, straining silently. Once inside, the group of 10 dispersed together as much intel as they could. They weren't ordinarily ones for serious missions, but their employer was most generous with their compensation. Kokichi couldn't resist, and Kurumi was forced to say yes, bullied into her big brother's services in search of one of her missing friends.
Just one more town... Then we'll be out of Towa City... and into the next prefecture... The reminder was her madness mantra, the light of Hope she clung to. Her relationship with Kokichi was... complicated, to say the least, just like the two of them.
Prepare for DanganDJ trouble, make it D4ronpa double, the Ultimate Prankster thought with a dry smile. Their very birth was shrouded in scandal, as they were half-siblings, but it was unknown which of them was the "trye and proper heir" of the family fortunes. All that was known was that Kokichi tampered with the verification documents, so now, the truth would never be known, except by him, and no one would believe him anyway.
That revelation caused the first cataclysm, Kokichi taking to the streets while Kurumi was shipped off to Catholic school, but another cataclysm—the Tragedy—reunited them. Now they slunk through the broken city streets of a war-torn world, reunited behind clownish masks under the codename DICE. "Shiroma" was the leader, a combination of their last names. Their logo was black and white, a combination of their colors.
"What have we here?!" The Ultimate Supreme Leader repeated, rubbing his hands together greedily as he cackled and wheezed softly. It looked as if they'd stumbled upon a factory and science lab hybrid, and for once, it wasn't abandoned.
"Shhhh...!" Kurumi commanded the others, holding a finger to her mask, its face weeping while her brother's cackled. They kept careful tally of whose turn it was to wear which mask. The other eight members of DICE mirrored the gesture or saluted. Kokichi, meanwhile, led the way, tiptoeing down the long, white, smooth hallway. At the very end were muffled voices behind push-open doors. Kokichi gestured for them to disperse again, hiding in various empty closets and darkened rooms throughout the rest of the facility. Kurumi used a periscope toy to keep watch, and as soon as the coast was clear, she signed to Kokichi to signal to the others that they could move on again.
Right before they could enter the very last room of the lab, though, the doors swung out towards them again.
"Wah-hoo! Dontch you rascals know anything about privacy?!" The face that screeched at them from the other side of the door was that of a robot bear. It was about thigh-height on the taller DICE members. Further in the room was a robot cat, large enough for the smaller ones to ride.
"INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!"
"Oh, shaddup!" The bear shouted, turning around and grabbing a nearby wrench off a table and hurling it at the cat. Its head spun, eyes flashed, and ears sparked. For a moment, it garbled and chattered, and then it found its voice again.
"Ohohoho! And just who doth approach our glorious and noble dominion?!" Personality completely switched, the robot cat licked its paw daintily and spoke with six voices in one, preening itself as it spoke with a haughty, melodramatic British accent.
"Ugh. Why couldn't it have chosen the cute little kitten personality?" the bear sighed to itself. "Then I could've manipulated it away!" it cackled.
"H-h-hold on... wh-wh-what?" One of the three girls of DICE finally piped up, voice soft and unsure and alarmed.
Miyu! Kurumi despaired. Ugh... Way to give away our position! The point of DICE showing up in clown costumes was to scare, not be scared.
"Oh, how rrrrude of me!" The bear rolled its "r", somehow. "But I am... Monokuma! And this...!" The bear gestured to the cat.
"We are Monochio!" the cat interrupted with a regal laugh, now stroking its long, wire whiskers, shiny and sharp.
"Don't interrupt me!" Monokuma snapped. "I am your elder! Learn to respect me!"
"Pah! Dare you challenge us? Remember, later models are superior to older prototypes!" Monochio sniffed. The bear extended massive, razor-sharp claws and pulled back a paw as if to shred Monochio's face clean off. Miyu gasped in alarm, then another DICE girl shoved forward.
"Do you know where Haruna Kasuga—Ultimate Chairman—is?!" she asked brightly. Monokuma froze. And turned around slowly.
"Oh, Miiko..." Miyu and Kurumi both moaned. Kokichi only observed interestedly.
Whoever created this Monokuma is interested in the prefecture that was recently taken over... I wonder... Is SHE responsible...?
"We do not... know any... Chairman," Monokuma muttered, sheathing its claws. "Why do you? Shouldn't you three brats be in school?"
"Kinda hard to do with a Tragedy going on," Kokichi deadpanned. "The bus keeps getting lost, so we never quite make it to school."
"You made it out this far, did you not?" Monochio observed right back. Clearly, you are a tenacious lot. We have our eyes on you... Prepare for DanganDJ trouble and make it D4Ronpa trouble!
"Adventure's more fun than homework anyway!" Kurumi chimed in, stepping up beside Kokichi in a silent display of dominance and allegiance.
There was a silent stare-down between the metal mammals and the circus siblings that ended only when the bear huffed indifferently and turned away, once again telling the intruding band that they were being rude, entering without knocking.
"Now, if you don't mind us, we have intel to report back to our superiors!" the bear huffed. "Come along, sibling Monochio! Prepare for DanganDJ trouble and make it D4Ronpa trouble!"
"Of course, brother Monokuma!" the cat replied, rising to its feet and following the smaller creature.
Intel? Superiors? Kurumi's tan eyes narrowed behind her clownish mask.
What does that mean? Miyu thought in fear, and Miiko in stupidity.
It means, Kokichi smirked, that they have as much to gain from knowing that we're in the area as we have to gain from knowing THEY'RE in the area... Interesting, interesting... Prepare for DanganDJ trouble and make it D4Ronpa trouble indeed!
AN: Just wanted to pit the pairs of psycho siblings against each other LOL! Monochio is nonbinary (it/its pronouns, even when using the Esora-Junko-Queenly-multi-voiced-6-as-1-royal-"we" personality)
