Tsubaki sighed impatiently, hands tucked protectively under her arms as she pushed through the crowded mall. "Come on, Chihiro!" she called over her shoulder, talking more to herself than the other, younger Hope's Peak student. It was her turn to spend time with the first-year, so perhaps she was trying to steel her nerves by reminding herself that being two years Chihiro's senior, she had a duty and obligation to be as wise and responsible as possible. Ugh. I really didn't want to be a "big sis" today...

It wasn't Chihiro who set up this little outing, though, but Tsubaki's unit-mates, RONDO. Chihiro met Aoi first, and what a fateful encounter it was, in the Hope's Peak gym lockers after class. The two realized they were practically inverses of each other. Chihiro was born a boy, but felt pressured to be a girl due to his naturally demure demeanor. Aoi was born a girl, but felt pressed to be a boy because everyone told her she looked more handsome as a man. But despite the rocky beginnings, both Chihiro and Aoi came to truly love their new gender expressions, it was just difficult reconciling it with society, and the less-than-stellar pasts they came from.

Wouldn't society scorn a boy dressing as a girl, and a girl dressing as a boy? And surely they'd be even more baffled to hear that despite feeling pressured into it, the boy and girl in question enjoyed dressing femininely and masculinely respectively! So for years, Aoi and Chihiro kept their secrets close to their chests, but then Aoi met RONDO, and Chihiro met Aoi. Now here Chihiro stood at the mall with Tsubaki, voice of RONDO, and Ultimate Vocalist. Aoi was the DJ, and the other two members—Hiiro and Nagisa—were VJ and electric guitarist respectively.

"S-sorry!" the little Ultimate Programmer struggled to keep up with Tsubaki, even though she was also short.

"You don't have to apologize!" Tsubaki sighed and rolled her eyes. Too late did she realize her mistake, and then Chihiro began apologizing again. Tsubaki sighed again, but this time kept it to herself. That, and they'd reached their destination. It was a dress shop. Tsubaki wasn't really a dress girl—unless it was gothic—but she wanted to do something she thought Chihiro would like. Dress-shopping was basic and universal enough, right?

And if he doesn't like this place, she thought self-consciously , there's only about 17 more! Ugh... I hope he likes at least ONE of them...

Ah, but Tsubaki was too hard on herself. Chihiro was delighted, appreciating her concern more than she realized.

"Oh, Tsubaki, look!" he gasped as they entered the dress store. He pointed to a mannequin at the back, wearing a long, dark dress with blue flowers running up and down the skirt. Camellias. "It's beautiful!" Despite herself, Tsubaki's lips quirked up in a small smile.

ooo

"Hey! Chihiro! There ya are!" The Ultimate Electric Guitarist rose from the wood bench upon which she'd been stuffing her face with the pizza-pretzel balls from the food stand just a foot away. "Want some?" she asked through a mouthful, holding out the large, paper cup.

"Oh, that's all right!" Chihiro waved her off politely.

"More for me!" she happily chomped down, crumbs and salt flying everywhere.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting!" the Ultimate Programmer said, dodging some of the stray bits of food.

"No worries!" Nagisa spoke through another mouthful before swallowing. "This is the place I wanted to take you anyway!" She jerked a thumb over her shoulder. It was a causal little store, almost like a boutique, except far too laidback. "It's kinda like a skate shop, except no skateboards," she chuckled. The mall did indeed have a proper skate store, but what Nagisa meant was that the shop she wanted to show Chihiro had similar vibes to a skateboard shop, even though it wasn't. "Come on in!" she grinned, waving Chihiro inside.
